    Derby spoils shared 1996 - Robbie Fowler headed us in front in the Anfield derby on the half-hour mark with his ninth goal in seven games, but Gary Speed nodded in a late equaliser. Steve McManaman was playing in his 106th consecutive reds game, but missed Wimbledon’s visit three days later. This game was postponed from a month earlier. A new stadium 1999 - We played our first official game at Sunderland’s new Stadium Of Light, as goals from Michael Owen and Patrik Berger gave us a 2-0 win.     Taylor out 1959 - Phil Taylor resigned as Manager, paving the way for the arrival of Bill Shankly the following month. He had made 345 appearances as right-half before and after the war, netting 34 times and winning one League title, and captaining the side.     Double reds debutants 1974 - Reds legends Terry McDermott and Phil Neal both made their reds debuts as we held Everton to a goalless draw at Goodison Park. Four for Jack 1946 - Jack Balmer bagged all four goals in our 4-1 win at Derby County. This was the second of his three hat-tricks in consecutive games.     Ged takes charge 1998 - Gérard Houllier took sole charge of a reds game for the first time as we lost 3-1 at home to Leeds United. Robbie Fowler’s penalty was cancelled out by three late Leeds goals in front of the Kop, including one from Alan Smith on his debut, with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink bagging the first two of his seven strikes past us. He made 346 senior appearances after signing from Grêmio for a reported £5m in May 2007, notching just seven times before moving on to S.S. Lazio for £5m in July 2017.     An epic swindle 2010 – The sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures under the leadership of John W. Henry was completed, after a chaotic few days of court cases.     A legend gets off the mark 1981 - Ian Rush scored his first two reds League goals to help us to a 3-0 home win over Leeds United, along with a Trevor Cherry own goal. 1925 - We also faced Leeds, with Fred Baron netting in a 1-1 draw at Anfield.     Igor Bišcan wrapped it up 2004 - We won a game of two halves at Craven Cottage. The reds were dismal in a first half that saw a Luis Boa Morte brace put Fulham 2-0 up. We drew level after the break thanks to a Zat Knight own goal and a close-range Milan Baroš strike, before Josemi was sent off following a second caution.
