Redders off the mark 1991 - Jamie Redknapp scored his first reds goal as we held Southampton to a 1-1 League draw at The Dell. Trebles galore 1977 - Terry McDermott grabbed a hat-trick as we thumped Hamburger SV 6-0 at Anfield in the second leg of the UEFA Super Cup, to win the trophy 7-1 on aggregate, with Phil Thompson, David Fairclough and Kenny Dalglish also on target. Luis torments the Canaries again 2013 - Luis Suárez scored four sublime goals as we thumped Norwich City 5-1 at Anfield, his third hat-trick against the Canaries, becoming the first reds player to score three trebles against the same team. Death of a legend 2002 - Legendary reds centre-forward Albert Stubbins died. He struck 83 times in 178 reds matches after signing from Newcastle United for a British record £12,500 fee in September 1946, helping to power us to the first League championship played after the Second World War. He was also the only footballer to appear on the cover of The Beatles’ “Sgt.
