    Another record for St. Michael 2003 - Michael Owen became England’s youngest ever player to reach fifty caps. He captained the side, bagging a brace, including a penalty, as they beat Slovakia 2-1 in a Euro 2004 qualifier at the Riverside Stadium. Steven Gerrard and ex-red David James also played. Owen also became England’s youngest ever captain for a competitive international. After five successful years as a forward with Arsenal, Bob Paisley converted him into a left-sided midfielder following his club record £180,000 arrival as Bill Shankly’s last signing in July 1974.     Goalscoring debutants 1946 - Forward Cyril Done scored on his official reds debut as we were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at home.     New defenders 1974 - Phil Neal signed from Northampton Town for £66,000. He made 650 reds appearances, netting 59 times while becoming our most decorated player of all time, including four European Cups, eight League titles, the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, four League Cups and four FA Charity Shields. 1996 - Jamie Carragher signed professional terms at Anfield.
