He played 282 times for us after signing for a club record £16,000 from Preston North End in August 1960, netting eighteen times and winning the League title twice, as well as the Second Division championship before joining Blackpool in May 1967.     Cup final glory 1984 - Joe Fagan won his first trophy as reds boss as a Graeme Souness strike handed us the Milk Cup in a replay at Maine Road against Everton. 1902 - We also faced Everton with our friendly at Goodison ending goalless.     Farewell to a legend 1978 - Ian Callaghan made his 640th and final League appearance, almost eighteen years after his debut. Unfortunately, this came in a 1-0 reverse at Coventry City. His final ever reds appearance came eight weeks later, in our European Cup Semi-final first leg at Borussia Mönchengladbach.     Anfield trebles 1956 - Half-back Johnny Wheeler scored a quick-fire hat-trick to hand us a 4-1 Second Division win over Port Vale, with his goals coming between the 81st and 85th minutes.
