Xabi from his own half 2006 - Jan Kromkamp made his reds bow in a thrilling FA Cup Third Round tie at Luton Town. We took the lead through Steven Gerrard before falling 3-1 behind with Djibril Cissé having a penalty saved with the score at 2-1. Florent Sinama-Pongolle bagged a brace with his first goal being our thirteenth from a substitute that season, a new club record. Xabi Alonso also struck twice, with our final goal being an outrageous strike from inside his own half, with the keeper making his way back from a corner. Scott Carson made his ninth and final reds appearance in this game.

Off goes Rowdy 1971 - Ron Yeats signed for Tranmere Rovers. The giant Scottish centre-half had netted sixteen goals in 454 outings for the reds, captaining us to two League titles, our first FA Cup, Second Division title and FA Charity Shield. He was one of Bill Shankly’s first and most inspired signings, arriving for just £22,000 from Dundee United in July 1961. A new home record 1972 - We registered our 21st consecutive home League win as a Peter Cormack goal handed us a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. This was a club record, and a record in the top-flight until we reached 24 in Ju

God’s treble 1995 - Robbie Fowler bagged a hat-trick as we came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield, in what was boss Roy Evans’ hundredth game in charge. Ian Wright had put the visitors ahead from the spot with one of his seven strikes against the reds. 2000 - We again faced the Gunners at home, with strikes from Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Nick Barmby and substitute Fowler giving us a comprehensive 4-0 win. A Milanese arrival 2001 - Milan Baroš officially completed his signing from Baník Ostrava for £3.2m. He grabbed a total of 27 goals in 108 reds games, helping us to cl

A great start for the knight 1959 - ‘Sir’ Roger Hunt scored on his reds debut as we beat Sc***horpe United 2-0 at Anfield, with Jimmy Melia bagging the other. Roger went on to notch 285 times in 492 reds games, a club record until the arrival of Ian Rush. 1961 - We also beat The Iron 2-1 in another Second Division meeting at Anfield thanks to a Derek Hemstead own goal and an Alan A’Court strike. This was our sixth straight win from the start of the season as we went on to clinch the title. A red stalwart moves on 1994 - Ronnie Whelan left Anfield for Southend United on a free transf
