Divock at the treble 2015 – Forward Divock Origi bagged a hat-trick, his first reds goals, as we thumped Southampton 6-1 in a League Cup Fifth Round tie on the south coast. Future red Sadio Mané had given the home side a very early lead but a brace from Daniel Sturridge put us ahead. Jordon Ibe was also on target after the break as we headed towards Wembley. 2018 – Divock Origi pounced on a Jordan Pickford error to hand us victory in the Anfield derby in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time, having already hit the crossbar from close range late in the game. Dan the man 1989 – Forward Daniel Sturridge was born in Birmingham. He signed from Chelsea for £12m in January 2013, netting an impressive 67 times in 160 reds games before being released in June 2019. 2013 – He scored the only goal of David Moyes’ Manchester United’s League visit to Anfield in just the fourth minute. 1993 – Ex-reds left-back Jack Robinson was born in Warrington. He became the club’s then youngest ever player when he debuted at Hull City in May 2010 aged just sixteen years and 250 days. He was sold to Queens Park Rangers in August 2014, scoring twice in 39 outings bef

Nando off the mark 2007 - New record signing Fernando Torres struck his first reds goal in our 2-0 defeat of Shanghai Shenhua SVA SMEG in the Port of Rotterdam Tournament. Argentine winger Sebastián Leto played his first reds game in this game in De Kuip. Steven Gerrard was also on target, while the draw for the Champions League qualifiers on the same day paired us with French side Toulouse. Thommo off 2000 - David Thompson was sold to Coventry City for £3m, after five goals in 56 reds games. He stayed at Highfield Road for two years before joining Blackburn Rovers for just £1.5m, net

Welcome cobber 2003 - Harry Kewell signed from Leeds United for £5m on a five-year deal. It was also announced that he would be taking over the famous number seven shirt, with Vladimír Šmicer switching to eleven. Harry’s time at Anfield was disappointing as he suffered from a series of niggling injuries, bagging sixteen goals in 139 reds games before leaving as his contract expired. However, he did help us to claim the Champions League and FA Cup in his time as a red, although he limped out of both Finals. Farewell King Billy 2001 - The funeral of Billy Liddell was held. Death of a true gentleman 2001 - Joe Fagan died aged eighty. He joined the coaching staff at Anfield in 1958, becoming Assistant Manager under Bob Paisley in 1974, before moving into the hot seat himself nine years later. In his first season as boss, he led the club to a unique treble of League title, European Cup and League Cup as we won 71 of his 131 games in charge. He retired in the aftermath of the Heysel tragedy in May 1985. 1958 – He was appointed Assistant Trainer under Phil Taylor’s management, replacing Dicky Dorsett. 2019 – Noel White died. He had resigned from the Board in Oc
