Michael named Europe’s greatest 2001 - Michael Owen was named European Footballer of the Year, winning the Ballon d’Or ahead of Real Madrid’s Raúl and Bayern München keeper Oliver Khan. Lúis Figo had won it the previous year. Happy birthday Jerzy 1973 - Jerzy Dudek was born in Rybnik. The big Pole in our goal made 186 reds appearances after signing from Feyenoord for £4.85m in August 2001, helping us to glory in Istanbul, as well as the Worthington Cup in 2003.
