He signed from West Bromwich Albion for £550,000 in October 1988 and bagged three goals in 193 reds appearances, helping us to a League title, FA Cup and FA Charity Shield before joining West Ham United as part of the deal that brought Julian Dicks to Anfield in September 1993. 1985 - Italian keeper Daniele Padelli was born in Lecco. He spent the second half of the 2006/07 season on loan from Sampdoria, making just one senior appearance as we were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Charlton Athletic in our final League game o

Kenny steps down 1991 - Kenny Dalglish announced his resignation as reds boss in a press conference at Anfield. He had been in charge for nearly six years, leading us to the double in his first season, and a further two League titles, FA Cup, two FA Charity Shields and Screen Sport Super Cup. The pressures of management, and his role in counselling players, supporters and the city of Liverpool in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster led to him stepping down. Beating the Mancs 2008 – Albert Riera made his reds bow as we came from behind to beat Manchester United 2-1 at Anfield. Cardiff glory once more 2006 - We claimed the FA Cup for the seventh time, in a game dubbed the ‘Gerrard Final’ after Steven Gerrard struck two stupendous shots. We went 2-0 down to West Ham United through a Jamie Carragher own goal followed by a Pepe Reina fumble that Dean Ashton profited from. Djibril Cissé gave us hope before half-time with Gerrard equalising after the break, his 24th goal in his 79th and final reds outing. Future red Paul Konchesky then struck a long-range fluke, our hundredth goal against under Rafael Benítez, with Stevie G scoring a stunning long-range effort as t
