Stanley’s treble 1996 - Stan Collymore scored a treble as we thumped Third Division Rochdale 7-0 at Anfield in our Third Round meeting, our only senior encounter to date. Substitute Ian Rush scored his 39th and final FA Cup goal for the reds, breaking Denis Law’s record with his 42nd in total. Jason McAteer grabbed his first reds goal with Robbie Fowler also getting on the scoresheet, to add to a Peter Valentine own goal as we progressed to the Final that year. Truth day 2007 - We lost 3-1 at home to Arsenal in the Third Round of the FA Cup, with the Kop staging an emotional protest a

Off goes Rowdy 1971 - Ron Yeats signed for Tranmere Rovers. The giant Scottish centre-half had netted sixteen goals in 454 outings for the reds, captaining us to two League titles, our first FA Cup, Second Division title and FA Charity Shield. He was one of Bill Shankly’s first and most inspired signings, arriving for just £22,000 from Dundee United in July 1961. A new home record 1972 - We registered our 21st consecutive home League win as a Peter Cormack goal handed us a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. This was a club record, and a record in the top-flight until we reached 24 in Ju

Seventh heaven 2006 - We thumped Birmingham City 7-0 at St. Andrews in the Sixth Round of the FA Cup, our record away victory in the competition, and our biggest win to that date under Rafael Benítez. Sami Hyypiä put us in front in the first minute, with Peter Crouch soon also scoring with his head, to get on target in his third consecutive game. Crouch added a third just before the break, with substitute Fernando Morientes scoring on the hour. John Arne Riise belted in our fifth, with Olivier Tebily’s own goal and a shot from another sub, Djibril Cissé, completing the rout. Momo Sissoko mad

Mickey’s treble 1997 - Michael Owen scored his first reds hat-trick as we beat Grimsby Town 3-0 at Anfield in a League Cup Fourth Round tie. Oggy signs on 1977 - Steve Ogrizovic signed from Chesterfield for £70,000. He only made five first-team starts in five years at Anfield as understudy to Ray Clemence, sitting on the bench on a further 27 occasions. He had more luck at Coventry City, winning the FA Cup with them in 1987 and making more than 500 League appearances. Derby despair 1995 - Robbie Fowler netted our consolation very late on as we lost 2-1 at home to Everton throug

Stevie at the treble 2010 - Steven Gerrard scored a second-half hat-trick as we came from behind to beat SSC Napoli 3-1 in our UEFA Europa League group game at Anfield, only the second reds substitute to net a treble, which included a penalty. Ezequiel Lavezzi put the visitors ahead, who included ex-red Andrea Dossena in their ranks. Five thousand goals 1990 - Ian Rush’s second goal in our 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur was our 5,000th goal in top-flight League football. Peter Beardsley also netted for the reds, having come on in place of John Barnes early in the first half. Bruce Grobb

mikHappy birthday Bugsie 1968 – Defender David Burrows was born in Dudley. He signed from West Bromwich Albion for £550,000 in October 1988 and bagged three goals in 193 reds appearances, helping us to a League title, FA Cup and FA Charity Shield before joining West Ham United as part of the deal that brought Julian Dicks to Anfield in September 1993. 1985 - Italian keeper Daniele Padelli was born in Lecco. He spent the second half of the 2006/07 season on loan from Sampdoria, making just one senior appearance as we were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Charlton Athletic in our final League g

Thommo off the mark 1973 – Phil Thompson bagged his first reds goal in our 2-0 home defeat of Derby County, with Kevin Keegan adding a late penalty. Ray Clemence was playing his 200th reds game. For Jamie 2010 – Jamie Carragher’s testimonial took place at Anfield in front of more than 35,000, with the reds beating an Everton side 4-1. Luis García opened the scoring with Carra converting a spot-kick for the reds shortly before half time. Joe Cole made the score 3-0 with his first reds strike but Jamie then scored from the spot for Everton! Nathan Eccleston also opened his account for t
