Carra’s 500 2008 - Jamie Carragher was applauded onto the pitch by a guard of honour before making his 500th appearance for the club, skippering the side to a 5-0 thumping of Luton Town in our FA Cup Third Round replay at Anfield. Steven Gerrard scored a hat-trick, including a swerving 30-yard strike to complete his treble, after Ryan Babel had opened the scoring on the stroke of half time. Sami Hyypiä also netted, with ex-red Don Hutchison among the visitors’ ranks. In comes Redders 1991 - Jamie Redknapp signed from Bournemouth for £350,000, going on to strike 41 times in 308 first-t

The return of the king 2011 – Roy Hodgson left as Manager “by mutual consent”, with Kenny Dalglish resuming the hot seat on a caretaker basis. Hodgson had led us to just thirteen wins in 31 games, with the King restoring the club’s pride and ethos, although he was sacked in May 2012. Carra makes his debut 1997 - Jamie Carragher made his reds bow as a substitute for Rob Jones in our 2-1 defeat at Middlesbrough in a Coca-Cola Cup Fifth Round tie. Steve McManaman grabbed our consolation, while Stig Inge Bjørnebye was making his hundredth reds appearance. Departure of a striking sens

A century against the Baggies 2005 - Peter Crouch scored our hundredth home League goal against West Bromwich Albion as we won 1-0 at Anfield, to secure our tenth consecutive League victory. This was the third consecutive game that Crouchie had notched in, inside a week. Gary Mac honoured 2001 - Gary McAllister was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List for his services to football. He had been a professional footballer for twenty years, winning the League title while with Leeds United, as well as helping the reds to a famous treble earlier that year. 2008 - Kenny Dalglish

The reds start out 1892 - We played our first ever competitive fixture, trouncing Higher Walton 8-0 in a Lancashire League fixture at Anfield, in front of a crowd of just 200. John Smith, Joe McQue and James Cameron all netted braces, with Malcolm McVean and John McBride also notching. West Derby-born Joe Pearson was the only non-Scot in this ‘Team of the Macs’. 1898 - We stepped out in red for the first time, as we beat The Wednesday 4-0 at Anfield, with centre-half Alex Raisbeck making his debut. We had played in blue and white quartered shirts until then. Left-half Bill Goldie bagged
