George born 1891 - Reds boss George Kay was born in Manchester. He arrived at Anfield in August 1936 and led us to our first League title in 24 years in 1947, and the FA Cup Final three years later. He was forced to retire due to illness in February 1951, and sadly died just three years later. Amongst the players who joined the club during his tenure were the great Billy Liddell and Bob Paisley.
