Ex-red Dave Watson made his full England debut in the same game.     Ciao Rushie 1986 - Ian Rush signed for Juventus for £3.2m, but was shortly loaned back to the reds, before finally joining the ‘Old Lady’ the following summer. He started off brightly, netting six times in ten pre-season friendlies.     Edging towards the title 1947 - We moved to within touching distance of our fifth League title as our 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers took us one point clear of both Wolves and Manchester United, in our final game of the season. Jack Balmer and Albert Stubbins bagged our goals before the break while Wolves legend Stan Cullis, who had guested for the reds during the war, played his final ever game for the club.     Wembley glory at last 1965 – This day finally brought the FA Cup to Anfield for the first time in our history. The game against Leeds United was goalless after ninety minutes, with full-back Gerry Byrne playing most of the match with a broken collar-bone. Roger Hunt opened the scoring in extra time, before Billy Bremner equalised for the Yorkshire side with one of his five goals past us.     Happy birthday God 1975 - Robbie Fowler was born in Toxteth. He scored 171 goals in 330 reds appearances in his first spell at Anfield, winning UEFA Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and two League Cups.
