    Goalscoring debutants 1946 - Forward Cyril Done scored on his official reds debut as we were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at home. He had also scored in the previous first-class reds game in which he had played - seven years before, just before the outbreak of war when the season was cancelled. Future reds boss Don Welsh netted for the visitors, having previously done so against us before the Second World War! 1907 - Harold Fitzpatrick scored on his reds debut to hand us a 1-0 home victory over Sunderland in another top-flight encounter as outside-right Arthur Goddard played his 200th red

    Hat-tricks all round 2002 - Michael Owen bagged a treble as we won 3-0 at Manchester City. It was our 400th Premier League match, and Steven Gerrard made his 150th reds appearance in the game. 1895 - George Allan scored four goals in our 5-1 Second Division defeat of Burslem Port Vale at Anfield, with David Hannah netting the other. Full-back Archie Goldie made his reds bow in this game. 2003 - Kevin Lisbie bagged a treble for Charlton Athletic as we lost 3-2 at The Valley, with Steven Gerrard playing his 200th reds game. Vladimír Šmicer scored and Michael Owen converted a penalty.

    Michael’s golden ball 2002 - We beat Derby County 2-0 at Anfield, with double goalscorer Michael Owen being presented with the Ballon d’Or trophy for European Football of the Year before the match. A minute’s silence was also observed before kick-off, in memory of the bereaved and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster. Steven Gerrard made his hundredth League appearance in this game. On the same day, young reserves forward John Miles left for Stoke City on a free transfer.
