    Striking legends arrive 1987 - John Aldridge signed from Oxford United for £750,000.     Ged’s return 2002 - A famous night in Anfield history came as we defeated Roma 2-0 to qualify for the Quarter-finals of the Champions League in our first season in the current format of the competition. Jari Litmanen’s penalty and an Emile Heskey header ensured we did not miss the injured Michael Owen or suspended Didi Hamann. The night was made complete by the emotional return of Gérard Houllier to the dug-out after heart surgery.     Michael’s golden ball 2002 - We beat Derby County 2-0 at Anfield, with double goalscorer Michael Owen being presented with the Ballon d’Or trophy for European Football of the Year before the match.     Goalscoring debutants 1946 - Forward Cyril Done scored on his official reds debut as we were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at home. He had also scored in the previous first-class reds game in which he had played - seven years before, just before the outbreak of war when the season was cancelled.     Hat-tricks all round 2002 - Michael Owen bagged a treble as we won 3-0 at Manchester City. It was our 400th Premier League match, and Steven Gerrard made his 150th reds appearance in the game. 1895 - George Allan scored four goals in our 5-1 Second Division defeat of Burslem Port Vale at Anfield, with David Hannah netting the other.
