    More Euro glory 2019 – We claimed the UEFA Super Cup for the fourth time, beating Chelsea 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out in Istanbul after our meeting ended 1-1 after ninety minutes, and 2-2 after extra time. Olivier Giroud scored the seventh of his eight goals past us to date in the first half, with a Sadio Mané brace either side of the full-time whistle putting us ahead. Jorginho converted a debatable penalty, before the match was decided from twelve yards. Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, Divock Origi, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah all scored before Adrián saved from Tammy Abraham. Joël M

    Kenny steps down 1991 - Kenny Dalglish announced his resignation as reds boss in a press conference at Anfield. He had been in charge for nearly six years, leading us to the double in his first season, and a further two League titles, FA Cup, two FA Charity Shields and Screen Sport Super Cup. The pressures of management, and his role in counselling players, supporters and the city of Liverpool in the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster led to him stepping down.
