Red hat-tricks 1966 - Roger Hunt netted three times in just nineteen minutes in the second half of our League game at home to Sunderland. He actually scored all the goals in our 4-0 victory that day. 1947 - Cyril Done grabbed his second hat-trick of the season, with Willie Fagan scoring the other two, as we jumped from seventh in the table to second with a 5-0 home win over Grimsby Town in snowy conditions. Wing-half Stan Palk made the first of his thirteen senior reds appearances in this game. 1944 - Done struck another treble as we trounced Crewe Alexandra 8-0 in a Wartime League match

Terry Mac signs on 1974 – Terry McDermott signed from Newcastle United for £175,000. He struck 81 times in 329 reds games, helping us to three European Cups, four League titles, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup and two FA Charity Shields. In 1980 he became the first player to win both the PFA and Football Writers’ Player Of The Year Awards in the same season. He returned to St. James’ Park in September 1982. Red trebles 2004 - Milan Baroš grabbed his only reds treble, including two penalties, as we beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Anfield. This remains our only hat-trick against the Eagles t

Goalscoring debutants 1946 - Forward Cyril Done scored on his official reds debut as we were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at home. He had also scored in the previous first-class reds game in which he had played - seven years before, just before the outbreak of war when the season was cancelled. Future reds boss Don Welsh netted for the visitors, having previously done so against us before the Second World War! 1907 - Harold Fitzpatrick scored on his reds debut to hand us a 1-0 home victory over Sunderland in another top-flight encounter as outside-right Arthur Goddard played his 200th red

Stevie’s four hundred 2007 - Steven Gerrard opened the scoring from a free-kick in his 400th reds game as we faced Arsenal for the 200th time in all competitions. This Premiership game at Anfield ended in a 1-1 draw with the returning Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres both limping out of the action. Cesc Fàbregas struck the late equaliser. Happy birthday Milan 1981 - Milan Baroš was born in Valašské Meziříčí in Czechoslovakia. He struck 27 times in 108 reds games after signing from Baník Ostrava for £3.2m in July 2001. He moved to Aston Villa for £6.5m in August 2005, having helped us t
