Stevie off but derby joy 2006 - Steven Gerrard was sent off at home to Everton for two quick-fire yellow cards before Phil Neville put us ahead at the end of the first half with a superb headed own goal from a corner. Luis García put us 2-0 up with a beautiful lob soon after the restart, our 500th home Premiership goal. Tim Cahill headed the visitors back into the game with one of his five goals against us, also their hundredth League goal in an Anfield derby. Substitute Andy van der Meyde was sent off for elbowing Xabi Alonso just five minutes after coming on before Harry Kewell rounded off

Brucie’s farewell 1994 - Bruce Grobbelaar played his final reds game in a 2-0 League defeat at Leeds United, with David Wetherall and future red Gary McAllister on target, the latter via a deflection off Mark Wright. Our eccentric keeper had played 628 times in total, helping us to six League titles, one European Cup, three FA Cups, three League Cups and three FA Charity Shields. David James replaced him for the final minute, so beginning a run of 213 consecutive reds appearances. 1997 - We faced Leeds again, with Stan Collymore bagging a brace as we won 4-0 at Anfield, as Jamie Redknapp a

Happy birthday Jerzy 1973 - Jerzy Dudek was born in Rybnik. The big Pole in our goal made 186 reds appearances after signing from Feyenoord for £4.85m in August 2001, helping us to glory in Istanbul, as well as the Worthington Cup in 2003. He left to join Real Madrid in July 2007, although he barely featured for their first team. A new boss 1951 – Don Welsh took charge of his first reds game as Jack Haigh nabbed the only goal of our top-flight meeting with Charlton Athletic at Anfield. He had been officially appointed eighteen days earlier. Away goals galore 1985 - John Wark ne

Shanks departs 1974 - Bill Shankly resigned as Manager after fifteen years in charge, leaving reds fans bemused and shocked. He had led us to three League titles, UEFA Cup, two FA Cups and the Second Division championship. His final significant act as boss was to sign Arsenal forward Ray Kennedy for a club record fee of £180,000, announced the very same day. Razor went on to net 72 times in 393 reds games, helping us to claim six League titles, three European Cups, UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, League Cup and three FA Charity Shields before joining John Toshack’s Swansea City in January 198

UEFA Cup glory 1976 - We claimed the UEFA Cup for the second time as we drew 1-1 at Club Brugge to triumph 4-3 on aggregate. Kevin Keegan equalised just five minutes after Raoul Lambert’s penalty had put the Belgians ahead, following Tommy Smith’s handball. This result came about despite Bob Paisley being without seven first-team players for ten of the fifteen days between the preceding final League game of the season and this match, due to the British International Championships. Carra’s farewell 2013 – Jamie Carragher played his 737th and last reds game as Philippe Coutinho struck t
