Top-flight trebles 2009 – Fernando Torres struck three times as we thumped Hull City 6-1 at Anfield. Geovanni equalised after Torres handed us an early lead. Steven Gerrard made the score 4-1 before Ryan Babel bagged a late brace, with the second fortuitously deflecting off his ankle and looping over the keeper. 1964 - Bobby Graham bagged a treble on his League debut as we beat Aston Villa 5-1 at Anfield, with Ian Callaghan and Roger Hunt also on target. Future red Tony Hateley struck for the visitors. 1925 - Dick Forshaw scored a hat-trick as we thumped Everton 5-1 at Anfield, with J

Off the mark 1959 - Winger Johnny Morrissey nabbed his first reds goal as we suffered a 2-1 Second Division defeat at Sheffield United when we conceded two penalties inside three minutes, both converted by Graham Shaw. 1928 - We also faced the Blades, losing our top-flight meeting at Anfield 2-1, with Dick Edmed nabbing our consolation. Scottish-born South African international left-back Jimmy Gray played his only reds game. Fred Tunstall bagged one of his eight goals past us, with Thomas Boyle also on target. Happy birthday Jerzy 1973 - Jerzy Dudek was born in Rybnik. The big Pole in our goal made 186 reds appearances after signing from Feyenoord for £4.85m in August 2001, helping us to glory in Istanbul, as well as the Worthington Cup in 2003. He left to join Real Madrid in July 2007, although he barely featured for their first team. A new boss 1951 – Don Welsh took charge of his first reds game as Jack Haigh nabbed the only goal of our top-flight meeting with Charlton Athletic at Anfield. He had been officially appointed eighteen days earlier. Away goals galore 1985 - John Wark ne
