Roy in charge 1994 - Roy Evans had his first game in charge following the departure of Graeme Souness as Manager. He did not get off to an auspicious start, as we needed an Ian Culverhouse own goal to help secure a point at Norwich City, with John Barnes bagging our late leveller as we drew 2-2. City keeper Bryan Gunn was sent off for handling outside the area in the final minute, with Chris Sutton nabbing the first two of his seven goals against us. Despite admitting that Bruce Grobbelaar had not been at fault for either goal, a certain tabloid rag later alleged that he had failed to throw

Thumping the blues 1955 - Perhaps our most memorable game on this day came when we triumphed 4-0 at Goodison Park in the FA Cup Fourth Round, at a time when we were a division below the Blues, having been relegated the previous season. The goals came from Billy Liddell, Alan A’Court and a John Evans brace. Unfortunately, Huddersfield Town knocked us out at Anfield in the following round. 1944 - We also won there in a Wartime League fixture, with Berry Nieuwenhuys and Jack Balmer on target as we beat Everton 3-2, with Don Welsh netting from the spot. 1947 - We lost a top-flight encount

Aldo off 1989 - John Aldridge left for Real Sociedad for £1.1m after 63 goals in 104 reds games, to become their first non-Basque player. He was signed by ex-red John Toshack and struck 33 times in 63 games in two years before returning to Merseyside with Tranmere Rovers. Beating the Mancs 2008 – Albert Riera made his reds bow as we came from behind to beat Manchester United 2-1 at Anfield. Carlos Tévez opened the scoring for the visitors after just three minutes, with one of his four goals past us to date, with a Wes Brown own goal drawing us level before half an hour had elapsed. Case closed 1981 - Jimmy Case joined Brighton & Hove Albion for £350,000 after seven years at Anfield during which time he bagged 46 goals in 269 reds games, helping us to claim three European Cups, four League titles, the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, League Cup and three FA Charity Shields. He had four seasons in this first spell at the Goldstone Ground, netting fifteen goals in 151 games, helping to knock the reds out of the FA Cup at Anfield in February 1983. On the very same day, Mark Lawrenson made his reds bow in our 2-1 friendly defeat at Club Atlético de Madrid, with Ray Kennedy bag
