Diaz has won leagues 2 years in a row and scored 15 goals in 32 last year.

The first one he time-shared a starting role with Gakpo

The second one was in a league that's a big step down from the PL, playing for a team that's got a massive in-built advantage over its rivals.

Sarr is a goalscorer but he’s a very limited player. He is also only really suited to a direct system.

At that price point, at that age, he’d be an incredibly odd signing. Usually I see the logic in what we do, even if I don’t agree with it, but this one would feel illogical.

So winning leagues isn't evidence of being good enough to win leagues?

I really am starting to think that someone internal at the club is trying to f*** us up. All this is beyond stupid if they think swapping Gakpo for Sarr is a good trade

Gakpo’s gone. Barcola’s in. Right wing is still an open wound we’ve refused to treat. Sarr might dull the pain, but he’s not the cure.

We need someone with genuine world class potential.

This can’t be it. Can it?

Feels like we have been here lots of times...

You know the most likely outcome.

(I don't mean with you by the way, but I'm sure you know that)

Look Minteh isn’t brilliant but allegedly Brighton want £80 million. He’s 22 and better than Sarr who is 28. At least if Minteh doesn’t work out we can sell him on. Sarr will have no resale value.

So I said

Neither is consistently good enough to be a starter for a team serious about winning leagues

Neither was consistently a starter for us in the season we won the PL. Mo started pretty much every game and won that league for us with a worldie of a season.

What Diaz did with Bayern is irrelevant. He didn't suddenly become good enough to be a starter for us by winning a lower quality league with Bayern, that's just a daft argument.

Do you think he is better than Trossard? Martinelli? Madueke?

Don't be daft here.

Do you think he's of the standard of Mane? Cos that's what we should be aspiring to

Out failings aren't that we've got rid of players that aren't quite good enough, it's that we've not replaced them with players that are better.

Well if none of Gakpo, Diaz, Martinelli, Madueke and Trossard are good enough to win the Premier League, that rules out 5 wingers in the last 2 years who actually won the Premier League.

Gakpo and Diaz are more than good enough to be in a league winning side and have shown that. Not every player in a league winning team will be Salah and Van Dijk. They both more than played their part.

£80m odd for Gakpo is brilliant. He's part of our problem not our answer, City fans will be gutted. The boss is clearly happy to get rid

Need to spend the money wisely which is the bigger issue.

Surely there’s something exciting and surprising in store. This can’t all be to just get some 28 year old lad who was off to galatasary a few weeks ago in.
