Someone earlier said letting Gakpo go is madness because he's been one of our better players. And I agree. He frustrates the hell out of me, hasn't kicked on like he should have and often hides. Then there's the side issues of needing a larger squad whether we can afford to bring anyone else in.

But yeah, he's one of our better players now. And that the problem. How the f*** is Cody Gakpo one of the better ones!!? As someone else said - he should have gone two years ago. The fact this move could be a problem for us, rather than a huge celebration, is absolutely damning of Hughes, Edwards & FSG but also of Wirtz & Isak.

I’d say swallow your ego and choose between RB or the bench till you’ve developed some game intelligence and resilience. Otherwise get rid, he’d command a massive fee. If Gakpo is 85m, Szob should be 100m+ easily.

Went out for a few hours and come back to 10+ pages... Got my hopes up that something good was happening, only to see we're selling Gakpo to one of our main rivals for about the same as Spurs paid for (huge failure) Savinho, and will likely replace him with nobody, or a 28 year old Sarr, for which the term underwhelming doesn't come close to doing justice. Just wow. Would love to see some rabbits pulled out of hats here (and waiting for some Journo to wake me from, this dream by saying Liverpool were never really considering Sarr), but yep, Hughes is going to do down in history as an unmitigated disaster that maybe has put us back a decade.
