sutty Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 There is no footballer that plays for liverpool who does to me what Dirk does. I love him and hate him. I don't hate the usual suspects, never hated Yon, don't hate Babel... I am capable of hating Dirk, because I love him. So f*** off Dirk, I hate you.* * I don't, I love you.**** I hate you *
Benzo-13 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 He does my head in like no other but I love him. Last year I was fearing he was becoming a new Heskey figure at times.Really didn't want that happening then he scored v the BS.
Billy Talbot Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I love the Diggler. I could never hate him.
Gunga Din Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i've never known a player who can have such fluctuations in form from one game to the next. some games he's brillinat, others he has the touch of a rapist.and this difference can happen between a saturday afternoon and a wednesday night
Raj Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I love the Diggler. I could never hate him. Dont care about anything else. The above is trueHe's contributed to too many big matches to ridicule, When the chips are down, Dirk steps up.When he's poor he always gives 100%.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 but he always gives 100% He's a winner & he's essential to our team
Raj Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 but he always gives 100% He's a winner & he's essential to our team Your opinion is worthless
Zoob Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 i've never known a player who can have such fluctuations in form from one game to the next. Or even fluctuations within a game. Thought overall he was awful tonight, but then still popped up to score the winning goal.
stressederic Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I can't hate him. I just don't have it in me. I probably admire him more than any other player in our team. The likes of Gerrard and Torres are blessed with wonderful natural skill. Kuyt is not. That's not to say he isn't a skillful player at times, he can be. But it strikes me that such moments are the product of hours spent on the training pitch, making himself better. Kuyt's career could quite easily have gone in absolutely any direction at all. But because of his absolute determination to give 100% regardless of whether he's in form or not, regardless of the circumstances, he has ensured that he has played competitive football at the absolute highest level. More than that, he hasn't been a passenger either. The amount of 'big' goals that Dirk Kuyt has scored is, frankly, ridiculous. That does not happen by accident. Should Kuyt start every game? Probably not. Specifically when he's going through one of his dips in form. However there is no doubt that when you put Kuyt's name down on the teamsheet you will get absolute commitment to the cause. Sometimes that's not enough, but it's a bloody good starting point to be getting on with. He might actually be my favourite player.
Bootle Buck Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 As much as he does your head in, you have to love his commitment and effort. I think he has become one of our most important players and always capable of coming up with crucial goals.
Red Kent Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Dirk the midfielder/winger = hate. Dirk the forward = not a problem.
McBain Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I dont hate him. I just dont want him in our team, ever He can try all he likes, have the biggest heart ever, be a brave little soldier all he wants. He still cant control or pass the football to any sort of standard required

He still cant control or pass the football to any sort of standard required That's right. It's high time this sport was decided by an X-factor-like panel of judges rather than the final score. Giving the win to the team who scores most just lets frauds like Kuyt prosper.
Tosh Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 He does my head in like no other but I love him. Last year I was fearing he was becoming a new Heskey figure at times.Really didn't want that happening then he scored v the BS. Dirk would never have missed the sitter Heskey missed in following up Villa's peno last night
Bailo Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 In another dimension, me and Dirk have a beautiful bromance.

Swipe Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Dirk isn't close to the King of the frustrating players, Luis Garcia. Kuyt can be very poor indeed but I'd still give him the nod in a big game.

Swipe Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Loved Luis too. He used to leave me on the brink of insanity at times. Then he'd score a cracker.
Falconhoof Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Couldn't understand having him out on the wing last night, hitting high balls across or over the top to Cole who was often ahead of Ngog.I know we always have Dirk on the wing but I half expected Hodgson to have another look at him as a striker.
Case Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 You're a very naughty boy, Dirk - Go to your room. No, wait. Come gere for a cuddle, I'm sorry.
Hassony Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Dirk isn't close to the King of the frustrating players, Luis Garcia. Kuyt can be very poor indeed but I'd still give him the nod in a big game. Yossi was even more frustrating for me at times
JRC Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 People focus too much on his commitment and work rate - excellent though these are - as a means of denigrating his other attributes. His goal return and assist record are top notch for his position, his control, albeit inconsistent with form, is often excellent (he always shows, so often gets the ball under pressure, for example), he makes intelligent runs and can pick a pass if there is good movement around him. He is tactically astute and plays a given role with absolute discipline. He was integral ("first name on the team sheet") to a talented WC Final Dutch team and his managers always love him. That just doesn't happen with limited, effort-only players. Love the guy.
chiliking Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I often find myself wishing Kuyt to be axed/ taken off, then he scores or does something brilliant to change the game. Luis Garcia was far more annoying than Kuyt. If Luis was bothered/geared up to it he could be a world beater, but often (he looked like) he was around 50-60 % effort, which isn't enoughWhen Kuyt is 100% he'll still be frustrating at times, but it won't come down to lack of effort, but skill. Luis' skills were breathtaking at times, his effort shocking. I guess I love 'em both. I do miss our big spanish contigent though. I feel like we made Spain the team they are today.
