Newcastle come to Anfield on 2nd May. As we all know, Bobby Robson, a true 'Sir' if ever there was one, is very, very ill.

As a proper football man, do you think that Liverpool FC should commemorate his visit somehow?

Or if we, the fans, should have some kind of tribute for him?

Not that it matters one jot, but he has always spoken very highly both of our club and the fans. I for one would like to get something sorted.

Any ideas out there, or how to go about getting something started?

[Mods - put this in the Liverpool forum because it is to do with what we the club/fans can do].

"ladies and gentleman, he hasn't got long left, so let's send him on his way with a nice round of applause... sir bobby..."

"ROBSON!" :applause:

think it's a bit inappropriate (yeah, i know) for the club to treat him like it's probably the last time he'll visit Anfield.

agree with that, but certainly think a support his charity thing day would be a great idea. Real legend is Bobby.

Think doing something to support the charity is a great idea. Maybe set up a just giving thing and present a cheque on the day? Be good to get the club involved if anyone knows how.

a chant would suffice, but anything more would imply we think hes on his last legs and its our last opportunity to pass on our regards, whether thats true or not it isn't really our place to highlight the severity of his illness. I think he gains enough pleasure from watching football regardless of what happens in the stands.

a good chant is what's needed

anything more could end up backfiring Alan Partridge style

it's also a good tribute to the battles we used to have with his excellent and entertaining teams of the 80s (Ipswich)

and when we t****** them, the utterly analytical and sportsmanlike way in which he'd comment afterwards....compare and contrast with certain other managers of today

I love Robson 'cos he's brought us entertainment and sportsmanship over and over again with different teams in different countries

a man almost always out of his time, a pepertual 1950s man who only needed to learn to handle the media in order to have become a hugely successful international manager

interviewer: 'so shola, you have a nickname then?'

shola ameobi: 'no, no nickname'

interviewer: 'ah but you must have, what does bobby robson call you in training then?'

shola ameobi (forlornly): 'carl cort'

absent marbles in latter years notwithstanding, you just know that the man would have joined in any random kickabout with some kids in the street. top bloke.

Wasn't Sir Bobby once famously furious at Ray Wilkins for not turning up on time at the airport for the England game, before someone pointed out to him he hadn't picked him for the squad. :)

Guy is a true gentleman and a legend, I'd love to see us do something to honour him. Maybe a big banner supporting him in his personal fight against cancer or his charity's work, think that would be a really nice touch from The Kop.

I like Bobby. Hes funny and not usually in an intentional way, but he is a gentleman and a real football man. Done some job with Ipswich all those years back. To do something for him would be nice, or something to raise money or the profile of his charity.
