He looks like he’s got his big contract and doesn’t fancy risking getting injured anymore. He’s not the player he was, looks like he’s lost a yard of pace and is afraid of being tackled or physical contact. His performances for Liverpool so far are in the David Ngog bracket.
-
Thought he started well but just drifted out of the game from about 15 minutes onwards.
-
Seems constantly half arsed and sh*ts out of tackles. He’s going to have to score loads of goals to get me over that.

Think he’s been awful. Barcola deal is absolutely crucial if we want to do anything this season. -
Dominik Szoboszlai reveals the difference between training under Jürgen Klopp, Arne Slot and Andoni Iraola: “Klopp’s sessions were intense. You knew from the first minute that you had to be ready because there was no time to switch off. “Then Slot came in and things were different. He was very careful with the training schedule, especially with the workload. He wanted us to be sharp, but he also understood that you cannot train at maximum intensity every single day. “He would constantly monitor how we were feeling, how much we had played and how our bodies were responding. There was a lot of focus on recovery and making sure we were fresh for matches. “With Iraola, the intensity is completely different. The tempo is extremely high from the beginning and you are constantly being asked to run, press and make decisions under pressure. “I thought I had experienced intense training under Klopp and Slot, but Iraola has taken it to another level. You finish a session knowing you have given absolutely everything.” Like the sound of this regarding Iraola. Also very much explains the dull, slow paced garbage we watched last season.

Think Italian footy will suit Jones well tbh, good move all round. Nyoni looks genuinely ready to play PL football.

2018-2020 was the golden period, the best football I’ve ever seen a Liverpool team play. Was a joy to watch. The defining factor for me is I don’t think Bobby or Sadio were quite as good after that period, it was their peak. Mo kept churning out the numbers but I think it was his peak as well, apart from his glorious throwback in 24/25.

Yeah me too, definitely.

Hughes has been an unmitigated disaster. Hired a goon as manager who lucked into Klopp’s last team being ready to win, then spent enormous amounts signing players everyone knew for above market rate to succeed only in building an unbalanced squad.

Don’t make a fuss about training lads. Come on, Jacquet in.
-
Mane can play right across midfield and the forward positions, he’s versatile.
-
Bit surprised there’s been no Mateus Mane chat with Wolves down, he looked brilliant last season.
-
If we’ve had Barcola top of our list all summer and have only just found out that PSG want 170m Euros, then we are truly f*cked.
-
Sammer was unreal but injured all the time.
-
Seen the footage since, Rodri is running to celebrate and Molina literally reached out and hits him on the way past, which is why he turns back.
-
Rodri is just an utterly dominant force in the middle, the protection he affords his defence and ability to start attacks is mad, and his record of winning stuff must be bonkers when fully fit. There’s nobody who does it like he does - some very good DMs about but nobody has his presence. Put him in the France team they win it. Has the full set now too - PL, CL, Euros, WC, Balon D’Or etc. Will go down as an all time great.
-
Has a more horrible bunch of c*nts ever represented a nation than this Argentina team. It’ll be a stain on football if they find a way to win this.
-
Big difference being Barcola is fast. If Gakpo was fast and could run his man outside he’d be much less of a problem.
-
He’s like a one man wrecking ball to a defence. Dont know what’s happened to him, but his positioning and decision making are bordering on comical. He was good a couple of years ago, always had the odd meltdown in him but now he’s just the meltdown guy permanently. Won’t miss him at all.

Michael Edwards’ greatest legacy will be letting Konate walk. Build a statue of him looking at a laptop outside the ground.
-
Madrid fans must be excited for Konate. Him leaving instantly improves us from last season.

This belongs in the Gary Glitter thread.

Being miles better than anyone else in Hungary at footy mostly! He works really hard so sets an example that way, but I still think he has some growing to do in terms of being a captain character.
-
If he wasn’t leaving I’d agree.
-
Barcola is miles better than any of the other wingers we’ve been linked with. The only (potentially) £100m worth player (ie is close to world class) in a sea of players apparently valued at £100m this summer.
