A Jurgen Liverpool team would put 6 past these. -

I missed all that, great to see a ref willing to stick with his decision. England is one of Oliver’s UAE bribe gang.
-
Thought the ref was good last night, better than the sh*te we’ve had in the PL before (not seen him ref in the PL).
-
I’d rather see my Dad start the next game ahead of Gakpo, and he’s 78, diabetic and does no exercise.

Everything out of his mouth currently sounds like an excuse. It’s really irritating and not promising relative to his long term future. Jurgen worked under the same restraints (in fact he never got to spend close to what was invested for Slot last summer) and made us the best team in Europe at times. Even when we weren’t the best team in Europe we played entertaining, high energy football. If he doesn’t think achieve the same with what he has to work with at Liverpool he’s in the wrong job.

Match Topic Liverpool vs West Ham - Premier League, 28th February @ 3pm

Was a strange game, shouldn’t really have been a comfortable win. I prefer continuity with the manager but there’s so little identity to this team, I can’t tell what he’s trying to do. It is hard to make a case for that. Completely agree with the passing out from the back comments, it looks like nobody knows what they are doing. VVD gets it off the keeper then all just run around until something happens. -
He needs to be on earlier. He looked lively earlier in the season but lacked penetration. He has progressed, looks stronger with less stepovers and more driving at defenders at speed, more direct.
-
Rigobert Song would approve.
-
He didn’t say anything stupid during his first season, but is trying really hard to make up for lost time.
-
Yes, with Infantino helping him relax from under the table.
-
This new fella doesnt even have a name yet and already I don’t like him.
-
I don’t ideally want to be starting him but the two who are currently starting are so bad, it’s hard not to make a case for it. If he is coming off the bench though, he needs more time. He was more direct yesterday and looks like he’s done some growing recently, looked stronger.

I was in the pub with two Forest fans. Safe to say I enjoyed it, even though we were crap!

The two lads out wide were so bad it was quite mind bending. I’ve seen ineffective before but they were miscontrolling simple balls, missing 5 yard passes, running into dead ends. They were almost comically bad. You can’t do anything with two wide players playing like that and both have been largely that bad all season. Soon as Ngumoah came on it was a different game. Mo’s drop off has been sad to see this season, gutted watching him. Slot’s blind spot for Gakpo will be part of his undoing. He just can’t seem to see how utterly sh*t he is. If Ngumoah is seen as a massive talent then start him, or give him half an hour at least. Losing nothing by doing so.

Is a fair comment. i think a lot boils down to how sold you are on Alonso. He might be great, he still has a relatively small body of work. But it’s also worth asking if he came and won everything, what’s to say he wouldn’t just f*ck us off for Madrid again? However attractive the girl is, if she’s already dumped you for someone else twice you’d have to be a real sucker to let it happen again.

Honestly I can get on board with all the criticism of Slot and still think he should be given another season. Should have played Robbo more when Kerkez was struggling. Should have found a way to not play Konate when he was an absolute shambles. Should have used Endo more. Should have played Gakpo a lot less. Should have played Ekitike over Isak when both were fit etc. My biggest issues are we are too slow to transition the ball from back to front and we lack pace and the ability to beat a defender badly out wide. But you could definitely hang both of those on personnel. So he’s basically had one fantastic season and one s*** season (which isn’t over yet). Unless we are completely changing our ethos as a club to hire and fire (which we aren’t rich enough for in order to keep remodelling the squad for every new guy) everything to me says he should get one more season.
-
Surprised he’d want an immigrant like Klopp.
-
I’d be inclined to extend him one year ideally for that reason, can’t see he’d turn it down.
-
I don’t think it would be fair to get rid of Slot, he gets next season for me. And I don’t think there are any guarantees that Alonso works out anyway. Yes Slot has struggled greatly at times and he has had a poor season. But it has felt like the transitional year you’d usually get in year one, dealing with wholesale change. Add in the whole Jota situation and trying to deal with 3 of the best players in the history of the club being in their declining years, that’s tough. And he won the league last year which surely has to buy him some time. Also don’t think Hughes got the recruitment right, in hindsight we really needed to sign someone quick who could ideally play wide or up top, probably instead of Isak. Still think Isak will be really good but £125m on a player with his injury risk always looked a gamble to me. Especially as he has no positional versatility. I think we are seeing promising signs in recent weeks though. This team is probably two pacey wingers and a CB away from being very dangerous again, and Slot deserves another crack IMO. I’m generally a believer in continuity when it comes to managers though, unless it’s Hodgson.

Was that Lino not Coote? I have a memory of it being him but might be wrong.
-
I agree and I think he’ll go due to that from his side and cost from ours. Probably just a shame if this ends up his last season. And I still think he has something to give, but we desperately need more pace out wide.
-
Apparently he’s put on 9kg of muscle in the gym since he signed, and you can see the extra strength.
-
Not sure about since November but he’s been great in the last few games and was outstanding last night. It makes a huge difference, he’s switched back from being an absolute liability to a top level CB. He deserved all of them, just as he deserves the praise now. If he wants to sign a new deal and play like last night I’ll be happy to keep him.
