I remember when Newcastle was running away with the league and in the middle of the season they decided to buy a few players to push them over the top. Asprilla being one. Then the wheels fell off...

 

So. Would you pick up anyone in January? Who?

personally feel we need another full back, someone with a bit of experience..we are bit light at righ back if arebloa gets injured...degen cant be trusted...as we have never seen him and hes always injured..

 

Other than that....im happy with the squad, im guessing we will likely see some faces leave...pennant being one which will likely mean a replacement coming in at right mid to back up kuyt..

Depending on who's fit in what position, I'd look to add one or two experienced players - Premier League experience, that is - in the positions needed.

£18M-rated Antonio Valencia? I doubt it. Even halving that price tag would probably make him too rich for us.

 

I think out squad size is pretty good. Full back positions are still a worry, but we have the numbers, so we'd need to ship out before bringing in.

I'd expect us to try and get Kuba from Dortmund with Pennant probably leaving (unfortunately I can only see this being a loan).

 

Given that Kuba can cover right back and right midfield and would be available for around 6-8 million it would be a decent signing.

 

Can't see any more activity other than that though.

I think we could do with a wide player who'll maintain width on the right. Pennant does that, doesnt make us narrow and just because of his position stretches the defense. Unfortunately, he doesnt do anything more and his crossing is erratic at best. A backup wide right player with English experience would be good, like Solano from a few years back. Whose available?
