Just been sent these quotes from burnham… PM wants to 'study' report Prime Minister Andy Burnham has urged people to "study" the independent commission's report in "some considerable detail before reaching any conclusions" on the charges facing Manchester City. "I would have to look at the report of the independent commission, and people shouldn't jump to those kinds of conclusions," Burnham told ITV Granada. "I know this has been a long process between the club and the Premier League. I think it has been quite a contested process. "So I don't think it's as simple as jumping to conclusions. I think we would all need to study the independent commission's report in some considerable detail before reaching any conclusions." So we shouldn't jump to conclusions despite an independent body that has already determined their guilt? He’s wrapped up in this I reckon.

I think the only punishment that is right has to be a reset to where they were pre-takeover given they’ve got to a false position because of their owners cheating. How you get to that position I don’t know. Strip them of their titles and trophies won too as they were won as a result of the cheating. And of course the current owners forced to sell up

Guaranteed he’ll get a soft red soon given the media (Sky) narrative that he should have gotten sent off last night “these things even themselves out”

Might be a tad gung-ho but could always play him as a 10 behind Isak instead of Wirtz

If that’s the case I guess it’ll be Bhatia and his team setting up the new behind the scenes structure with Hughes and Edwards leaving

I can’t see how he doesn’t struggle at least initially given he’s coming into, new league (quicker and more physical), new country, disfunctional team, limited/minimal pre-season so won’t be up to speed for a while, expectations from fans and expectations from the media who will be on him straight away if he isn’t an instant success.

So our fit and available squad looks like this… Alisson Marma Frimpong jacquet virg kerkez Araujo Tsimikas Szobo Grav Nyoni macallister Wirtz Barcola Gakpo Munoz Rio Isak

But we’d need to sell macallister a) to fund it and b) to ensure nyoni still has a path to the first team

We also have no specialist right winger either, yes people can play there but it’s not natural for them

Probably cos we just spent 70m on an 18 year old forward and keeper who won’t join until next summer!

Meanwhile city (I know) seem to have no trouble on getting a replacement in for their right wing departure… Manchester City have signed winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras in a deal worth up to £34.2m. City have paid an initial £32m plus £2.2m in add-ons for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has signed a five-year contract. Allan is a direct replacement for compatriot Savio, who completed a £75m move to Tottenham Hotspur last week. The right-sided winger scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 96 appearances in all competitions for Brazilian top-flight side Palmeiras after progressing through the club's youth system.

Are we just computer generating names now… NEW: Liverpool are among the clubs in the mix for Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling. His future is one to watch until Deadline Day. [@berger_pj] #Transfers #LFC

don’t worry it’s all in hand… NEW: Liverpool will finalise the signing of Bradley Barcola from PSG in the next 24-48 hours. [@alex_crook] #LFC

Surely not dragging our heels… @sebnonda & @laloumance: Chelsea is making concrete progress to accelerate for Lamine Camara. Discussions are advancing with the player, and an agreement could be reached quickly. Liverpool remains attentive but hasn't acted yet

A quick look on transfermarkt suggests he’s right footed and only ever played right wing three times. He also makes frimpong look like a giant so could have physicality against him too Edit: in relation to fofana as opposed to Pearce! Should have quoted the post

Think I’d prefer rayan for the little bit extra that we’ll end up paying for minteh.

I don’t think minteh is too bad an option and provides that left footed player down the right, but an injury that needed an operation, missed pre-season and won’t be available until October then probably November before he’s up to speed is very risky.

Or he’s been told he’s not getting a midfield signing and has to make do

Seems like James McConnell is staying put this season as Iraola rates him

Not sure who this guy is but think he's a sky sports chap… 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢 - @markmcadamtv on if Liverpool are looking for reinforcements in defence: “Well, no is the answer we are being told. My understanding is that Liverpool will not go into the market to sign a player for the next 4-6 weeks. They’re just gonna have to ride through the storm and then wait for their players to come back and then they will be at full strength at the back.” We've been here before and worked out swimmingly then, do they never learn

“Focussed on strengthening the right wing” whilst being linked to predominantly left wingers!!

Rayan and ferran tores is what I’d like to see.

What with the pivot in strategy on the manager and iroala appointed, Edwards and Hughes off and now this minority stake investment it certainly looks a mess and distractions behind the scenes so can’t imagine there’s much or enough resource in sorting out transfers with the urgency or diligence needed.

Yes agreed, there’s that option as well but at the moment we have no left footers and apart from minteh aren’t being linked with any so maybe it’s not a problem for Iraola and I’m probably harping back to the mane/salah model that served us so well.

If Diomande isn’t happening we do really need to get the balance of the wings right. At the moment everyone we have plays left side. I’d be looking to sell Gakpo leaving Rio and Munoz for the left and then get rayan and Bowen for the right.
