That's only ten to six in new money.

A crack a version of that joke almost daily... oh how the family laugh.

Think the previous record sale by a Mexican club is $16m, strange if we'll have to go that high

He is seen as their best prospect since Hugo Sanchez though and Mexican football is surprisingly wealthy

Nizaar Kinsella, BBC] Bournemouth open to Alex Scott sale in January. Decision comes after talks with reps. Chelsea and Liverpool retain interest.

For 100m. Not worth that

He is in a world where Wirtz cost what he did… but back in the real world yeah he’s not worth that . But the same was said about Rice and that was a few years back before this daft price hike

It wont solve any problems. Iraola is only playing 2 out of the 3 anyway to accommodate Wirtz in his best position. The bigger issue is the full backs are creating nothing. Spend the money on better full backs who will create things. sell kerkez and frimpong.

If you'd swapped kerkez and o'reilly round on sunday the difference would have been huge.

Would also have a big impact on helping Barcola.

Frimpong will be gone, I think he will get something out of Kerkez, has done it before and we do actually need a squad. Next 2 months will decide Wirtz future by the looks of it, may already be stuff happening there.

I hope Ward has a different approach than buying players like Scott for £100m.

Yeah definitely. We were linked with him at Bristol and that was the time to grab him. If we spend all the budget on one player it’s crazy.

I wonder what people would say if we bought a midfielder from Bristol City now

“He might be s*** but at least we didn’t spend over £100M on him”

He would’ve been coming into a different scenario (and given more developmental patience) but anyone who comes in now for that price tag has to immediately be on it.

Alex Scott has done what Wirtz did at Leverkusen? Nope, obviously not…..don’t miss a chance to have a dig at one of our players though ☹️

Unfortunately for Wirtz he will often be compared to other potential midfielders when a £100m+ price range is discussed
Scott has shown he’s suited to this league. Is he able to step up to a club like Chelsea or Liverpool? That’s a different matter but at least the risk of adapting to the league isn’t a concern.

I am not in any way saying I want Scott here anyway. Think the days of spending £100m on one signing should be long gone based of recent efforts.

I've no problem spending 100m on a player as long as it's the right player. But I thought Wirtz was the right player, and so did everyone else in football. I don't think Scott is 100m player.
