Liverpool FC have announced a new six-tier ticket structure for 2013-14 to allow more accurate ticket pricing according to seat, location and view.

The club also announced, for the second season running, that all Kop tickets will reduce or remain flat.

 

As part of the club's long-term strategy to keep tickets for juniors affordable, Liverpool is introducing a £5 children's ticket for selected Premier League games. The club successfully trialled this approach earlier this season in home cup games and it proved successful with an increase in children attending matches.

 

Following a major investment in the family areas at Anfield this season, Liverpool also announced it will reduce junior season tickets for kids aged 16 and under by nearly 30 per cent.

 

Ian Ayre, LFC managing director, said: "Over the past two years, the club has given careful consideration to ticket prices and pricing structures in consultation with the Supporters Committee.

 

"Following last year's price freeze, this year we have reviewed our overall stadium pricing structure and, similar to many other Premier League clubs, from next season we will also be introducing a multiple-tier pricing structure which will more accurately reflect seat location and view. This new approach to ticket price points at Anfield will see all Kop tickets reduce or remain flat in price for the second year in succession."

 

He added: "As part of our planned approach to making Anfield more accessible to families, earlier this season we invested over £1million in a new Family Zone area and Family Park at Anfield. These areas were designed to keep junior Reds entertained before and after the match and it's great to see so many kids enjoying the new spaces we have created for them.

 

"We will be introducing a number of junior ticket price points to make Anfield more affordable for families including a new low £5 children's ticket for selected Premier League games. We hope that by reducing junior pricing and making more tickets available, we'll see even more of our youngest fans at Anfield."

 

The majority of away fan prices will be reduced or held flat.

Mines gone up £70. In top level of the new categories which is odd considering I'm in the second to top row in Upper Cent (CE3), level with the edge of the Anny Road penalty box, and need to take binoculars to see the game and an oxygen cylinder for the climb! Can't say I'm too impressed really :angry:

Because they'll be going years after you.

 

At which point, they'll be paying for the next generation.

 

Don't think it is too bad for anyone this. People who have already been paying close to a grand, or significantly more than that in some self-trumpeted instances, for a season ticket can probably afford an extra 70 quid to be honest.

Aye in principal it sounds fair. It would be nice to know the nett result of the increases/child initiatives etc, was just a modest increase in overall receipts.

 

The game in general is being priced out of reach of the general punter though, compared to say 10 years ago even. If this means a few more can get in that can't normally afford, then great.

Where does it stop though? It's an extra £70 this season, another £50 next. In 5 years a season ticket will be a grand.

TV revenue has just increased massively, ticket prices should be falling not increasing even more.

haha. great isnt in? im smack in the middle of 104, if you walked into the ground to pick a seat on the Kop you'd struggle to get a better one than mine. surrounded by good lads as well, no moaners.

But it's another straw on the camel's back. I save over the 12 months for mine and it's getting more & more difficult. Is £250 to £850 in 20 seasons reasonable? TIM is right - it'll be a grand before long. Football is finally making small inroads into getting clubs to consider using their next television cash injection to help fans and ours is doing its best to get round it. If they were that arsed they'd be offering seat swaps.

 

And it won't be helping kids get in, it'll all go to FSG and their debt.

It's an almost identical rise to that of house prices, might make some reconsider.

Prices are high generally and it's not down to our club.

 

With any changes in there are always winners and losers. We did need to price differentiate though. If you are in a crappy seat, why should you pay the same as someone in a prime seat?

 

I'm assuming it lays te groundwork for the new groundwork too.i would interested to know the end impact on ticket revenue. If its neutral or close to, fair play.

 

Personally, the league had an opportunity to Mandate that tv money is to be allocated to a 20% reduction in ticket prices. One of the major selling points for tv is the crowd.

 

Unfortunately until people stop going prices will continue to go up. What is the unsold rates for league games? I'd be surprised if we had more than 7% vacancy for league games over the season.

So basically three quarters of the tickets in the ground have gone up by £70 and the Kop has stayed the same. It's clever marketing giving relief to the loudest quarter of the support and taxing all the old farts in the Main Stand, Centenary etc (including me).
