CarraLegend Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 So after failing horrendously with England he's now got a fat new contract and is put in charge of the Olympic team. Nice work if you can get it!
johngibo YPC Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Powell should be in charge of both teams. Thought she was crap in the womens world cup to be honest. Keeping players on who couldnt run anymore in central midfield
Leo No.8 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Rigid 4-4-2, workhorses throughout the side so we can 'get stuck in'. If in doubt kick it out, big man and a little man up top. God Bless the Queen, Stuart Pearce the football innovator.
Buzz Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) Thought she was crap in the womens world cup to be honest. Keeping players on who couldnt run anymore in central midfieldI too was dissapointed with the womens world cup to be truthful, but, I think on the whole she has done a very good job and England expects to be crap at world cups anyways. Tosh Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 OK, I'll start (I assume this is current internationals and not restricted to U21). Non-English players to actually PLAY:Gareth BaleAaron RamseyCharlie Adamdarren FletcherJonny Evans any more that Pearce will pick n play?
Snakebite Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Olympics are U23 with a couple of overage players aren't they?
stressederic Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Well that's one medal we won't be winning.
Cam Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Just when he needs the rest you can best yo' ass that Andy Carroll gets the call up. Henderson too. Wouldn't put it past the LMA mafia to cook up a Gerrard calling too.
Epic Swindle Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Olympics are U23 with a couple of overage players aren't they? That's what I thought, so Carroll, Hendo and Kelly then. Beckham is a shoe in.
D.Boon Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Just when he needs the rest you can best yo' ass that Andy Carroll gets the call up. Henderson too. Wouldn't put it past the LMA mafia to cook up a Gerrard calling too. Carrol will be exhausted by the end of this season at ths rate.
Earl Hafler Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Pearce should have his own statue in Trafalgar Square. That fist pump after the penalty against Spain ? Nelson at his finest was never that English.
Benzo-13 Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 The Euro's will have a say in this.Picked for one and not the other plus odds on that Beckham is one of the bangers.
Epic Swindle Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Powell is his assistant. They're now saying that fringe players who don't feature much in the euros can be picked. That should please a few club managers.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Gayne Pooney could feature. This is gonna be wonderful. WONDERFUL
Stevie H Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 what design shirts are they going to wear? and will skinner and baddiel release 4 lions and a dragon on a shirt?
libero Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 what design shirts are they going to wear? and will skinner and baddiel release 4 lions and a dragon on a shirt? Nailed on shirt, but with a union jack instead of the 3 lions. The second shirt will be red with the same badge
Stevie H Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Nailed on shirt, but with a union jack instead of the 3 lions. The second shirt will be red with the same badge reckon? the 'team GB' athletes usually have a red, white and blue affair don't they?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Rigid 4-4-2, workhorses throughout the side so we can 'get stuck in'. If in doubt kick it out, big man and a little man up top. God Bless the Queen, Stuart Pearce the football innovator.
Hassony Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Are Uruguay gonna compete in this? yes they lost 6-0 to brazil in the final, but both will play
lfc003 Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 What i can't understand is if The Olympics finish in mid-August why is the Premier League still scheduled to start the 15th. Surely it makes sense to delay the start of the league till the first weekend in September especially with the Euro's also taking place in June/July. Starting the season in september would also fix the problem of teams dealing with unhappy players due to the transfer window gossip.
Gambit Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Football shouldn't even be an Olympic sport IMO. It's always been rubbish. And I don't know why the organisers have made this an under 23 competition. Where did this arbitrary age of 23 come from? Why not under 21, or under 18? And why have over-age players at all? It baffles me that Argentina take this crap so seriously, and I can perfectly understand why Barca were so livid that the Argies selected Messi for the last tournament. Players like Messi belong in the World Cup, not a pointless under 23 tournament.
