The result today shows how far we have got to go to bury the disastrous legacy left by Benitez, and I am sure the fans understand what a hard job I have to do here, particularly if we are to entertain thoughts of competing with big clubs like Chelsea and the glorious Manchester United.

I am pleased to report that John Henry agrees with me. At our first meeting this week he told me that changes were coming and I should be ready for them. He also talked about the turgid dross we have at the club and the sooner we bought in a younger more dynamic leader the better. Personally I think we should still keep Gerrard as he's English and understands the game in this country.

You don't, become a bad manager over night, nor do you become such a good and respected one as I am without 35 years experience. It is has been acknowledged, what a highly regarded manager I am through my winning of the LMA award. For these reasons I was approached to take over the big job left at Liverpool by the previous incumbent who despite being popular on Merseyside, has neither of these things. I ws also a little dissapointed to learn that Kenny had also approached the board for the job, knowing he cannot compete with my unique knowledge of European football, which is recognised from Malmo to Stavanger.

To be honest having to answer such questions and constantly deal with speculation regarding my future is is totally disrespectful to manager of my standing, which is recognised by such luminaries of the game as Alex ferguson and Sam Allardyce. Especially when we are trying to concentrate on a game against a bigger club than us. I'm very much like Bill Shankly in that I'm here for the long haul, and bring memorable European night such as those in Utrecht and Napoli back to Liverpool. And who knows if we are lucky and can avoid some of the bigger boys, have decent run in this years FA cup, if work hard we could even make the last 16.

I've been an international manager, have you Rafa? I am the current LMA manager of the year, have you ever won that Rafa? And Liverpool have won a few things in the past too.
