I like Wirtz and really want him to succeed but we need to be better at identifying when it hasn’t worked and moving players on. If he doesn’t improve here under Andoni I think we’d all jump at the chance if there as any opportunity to include him in any deal for Olise

Gakpo won’t be playing if he missed training

I rarely watch post match interviews these days, usually because we haven’t won in recent times, but watching him being interviewed last night really pleased me. I don’t know what I was expecting, a surly bloke batting away questions after not getting the move he wanted perhaps? A sad fella who’s still trying to some to terms with his recent loss? He seemed genuinely really happy to be here and his closeness to Virge was obvious. Despite everything he’s been through in recent months he looked like he didn’t have a care in the world and it was lovely to see. This transfer window may have been his sliding doors moment.
