People underestimate Diaz and way over rate Gordon. He can’t even get into a team 20 points behind us.

I agree with the first part but Gordon is definitely first choice for Newcastle, he has just been injured.

yeah im fascinated by what we'll do this summer.

Could also feasibly just be one in and one out with Nunez getting binned. Get that signing right and that alone will make a huge difference, but would obviously like a bit more new attacking blood in as well.

Who the saudis might fancy could change it all up.

A brilliant no 9 ( whatever that is in this team) changes everything.
Having Gakpo and Diaz on the left and Mo and even Chiesa as back up on the right looks great to me if the no 9 is class with Jota as back up.

Yeah I do think it's a monumental difference if that 9 is class. Would like more pace across the front three though. Could do with a new wide player imo. Proper f***ing speedster.

This summer is fascinating. We are champions and loads of points ahead yet we can all see room for obvious improvement.
It’s been great in hindsight that Slot has had a year to feel out the team and the league. I’m intrigued to see where we go from here.
The No 9 if we get it right is huge. The most complex issue is replacing Trent and his creativity.

PSG are a good blueprint right now. They feel like a blend of old Barca and Klopps pressing and energy. They are technically really great in midfield but have willing runners and pace like you mentioned.

I think we played them at the wrong time as we were tired but it was the first time we “felt” at least with the naked eye like an older team who lacked pace and a few gears when needed.

This is why I like the look of Semenyo. He seems super explosive

Does seem to be growing that link doesn't it. Would surely mean only one of their defenders coming too, though. if any.

Can't buy three from Bournemouth in one summer!

Did it with Southampton and Bournemouth are better than they were 🙂

Yeah but just not sure I can see the former Bournemouth fella buying three of theirs in one window.

Apparently Ornstein was on a podcast and was basically saying unless Madrid come in for him, he thinks we're favs for Huijsen.

Lallana 👍🏻, Lovren 🥶 and Lambert 💩

Summer of '14 I think

Yeah. Two were crap. That's the problem here I think.

And then Mane 2 seasons later, Virgil a year after that. They were alright.

They were. However, you aren't getting 3 belters in one window from one mid table (ish) team. Has it ever happened in the history of football?

there’s a problem though:

“if we’ve ‘heard of him’ then we can’t sign him and expect him to become world class“

it’s exactly like doing a complex property deal when you’re an entrepreneurial as opposed to corporate outfit (ie not billionaires) - you want off-market opportunities not stuff that’s advertised with Mason Owen

Kerkez seemingly wants to come & they can't do anything about Huijsen 'cos of the release clause but yeah - 3 of them seems unlikely.

The new mid table is pretty good tbh. I can see the wisdom in going for these three. Perhaps Bournemouth want so of our dross too.

Money will stop it even if we did want all three. Huijsen has a clause that we're apparently happy to pay, but there's already mentions that we don't want to go as high as Bournemouth are suggesting for Kerkez, and you'd imagine it'll be the same for Semenyo.

Wasn't there something that they were interested in Kelleher, Elliott and Doak? They might want a refund on Brad Smith first though 😄

How much did Smith go for? We can knock half his fee off. The three you mention can all go but we should have a buy back on them. (I’m always loath seeing promising players go and want them back if they turn out any good somewhere else.)

Also from the Bournemouth point of view, if they have to sell Huijsen because of the release clause they then have no need for cash and can negotiate hard on any other sales

I have £6m-ish in my head.

Yeah, sounds about right

They paid us a lot of money for Ibe and Solanke as well, although the later was a great success for them in the end
