Cisse Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 With the sad decision that stevie will be leaving us what would be your prefered new line-up in 2015/16. It's not all doom and gloom with Hendo, Can, Allen and hopefully Rossiter as a local lad coming through. I've listed 15 of the games best DM/CM players who could be available in the summer. If you could choose 1 or 2 who would you go for... Wanyama L Bender Schneiderlin Xhaka Sven Bender Gustavo Kondogbia Witsel Gonalons Iturraspe Cabaye Kovecic Carvalho Krychowiak Alex Song
New York Red Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I saw Kondogbia once and thought he was fantastic. I really like Witsel too - a scrappy battler pretty well suited to the Premier League I thought.
Ibby Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Don't trust our current set up to find the right player at all and even if they do you have the clown ayre there to f*** up the negotiations
RedSalmon Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Busy people. I like Joe Allen. He gets in peoples faces. Disruption in that part of the field. Henderson, Lucas and Can have this attribute. Terriers nipping at ankles giving no time on the ball. Those are the type of players we need at the base of a 2/1 triangle in midfield. Add to that players coming through the youth set up. That is what we'll see imo. We need competition for Mignolet. I'm not sure spending money on a forward is going to happen in the strategy of things with Origi and possibly Ibe returning next season.
baja the hut Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 If Rodgers wants a quarterback get him a quarterback, and not convert one of the greatest box to box midfielders ever to a quarterback. Who's there who's young who can fill this role? Marco Veratti? Add him and Pogba to next year and our squad goes from zero to hero.
DJS Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Pogba is a pipe dream. No chance in hell we'd get him. Firstly, our owners don't do established world class signings. Secondly, if he was available, Real Madrid, Chelsea & City would all be ready to chuck fortunes at Juventus and pay him £250k p/w. In summary, dream on. We'll end up with someone like Delph.
baja the hut Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I will..thanks...it's not like Pogba fits with our current signing strategy. It's merely a way to win the league.
DJS Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'm with you, I'd love to get Pogba. It's just light years away from what we do.
Red Yoda Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 There's a young central midfielder who has lots of talent, Ruben Neves , excellent passer too, but he is very young.

Conrad Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 he was available last summer. That was our chance to buy him.
RedHarvest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 As he's still a Juve player we still have a chance to buy him, it just takes the will and the determination as well as the money. Of course I share your cynicism about us actually pulling it off (Ayre) but I think there may be a slight glimmer of hope that JWH sees the light and realises we need a big statement to fill the Gerrard shaped hole in the club next season

You do realise that whatever we agree, others will match (if for some reason they decide not to blow us out of the water) and then it's down to the player and he isn't coming here.
RedHarvest Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Really? You do realise that whatever we agree, others will match (if for some reason they decide not to blow us out of the water) and then it's down to the player and he isn't coming here.I do realise that. Was trying very very hard to look on the bright side
DecidedByPoll Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 The player we really need is Ignacio Camacho.
Beardsley Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I wouldn't mind Wanyama. He's the kind of player you hate to play against. A midfield of Hendo, Wanyama and Can will be great.
Hassony Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I wouldn't mind Wanyama. He's the kind of player you hate to play against. A midfield of Hendo, Wanyama and Can will be great.a great is pushing it, a midfield of Xabi, Gerrard and Masch was great and we really ought to stop buying players from Southamption
Eskimo Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I wouldn't mind Wanyama. He's the kind of player you hate to play against. A midfield of Hendo, Wanyama and Can will be great.Lacks creativity imo... Hendo and Can could work alongside a more creative CM at the head of the diamond.
Murphman Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 a great is pushing it, a midfield of Xabi, Gerrard and Masch was great and we really ought to stop buying players from Southamption I'd take Mane, he looks a proper footballer.
Flasher Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 a great is pushing it, a midfield of Xabi, Gerrard and Masch was great Best midfield three, ever.... Still dream about them. That three would still work now.
