i didn't know what to do during the west ham - qpr match. i wanted to hear the crowd noise and it was an exciting match but motson was literally ruining it with his screaming and over-excited forgetting of players' names. the less said about the 'analysis' the better, it's completely pointless.

I knew the running order so watched the Newcastle v Reading for laughing purposes. Badly edited and couldn't even be bothered to show players going off for HT. They did the same with our game as well. Awful pre-recorded commentary as mentioned and their depth of commentators is piss poor.

 

Lawro is a rambling annoying c**t that should have been fecked off years ago.

Most of the sports commentators who come to be regarded as national institutions, like Motson, are actually irritating as f*** - Murray Walker, Peter Alliss, Sid Waddell.

 

I like Butler and Moore on the rugby, though I know loads don't.

 

Cricket still streets ahead - though even there, Blofeld comes into the Alliss category for me.

there have been plenty of times when it's been alright, but it's been when they've got decent talking heads on there to comment on and analyse games. the 19th hole format is just f***ing nauseating, as is lineker's smug pride about the whole thing. there's nothing there to be proud of you philandering get.

Probably best to use the PVR and start watching it 45 minutes after it starts. That way you just watch the matches and not bother with the genius of shearer or insight of commentary.

That's pretty much it. The two main game and one minor game plus the goals setup was so much better.

The 'analysis' is so, so poor - compare to that manc on Sky, who despite being a c***rat is easy the best around.

Surely to God theres a gap in the market somewhere for some decent football punditry. The best football punditry on sky is probably La Liga, and even that has been on the slide. the punditry on most other sports is usually ok, but for some reason its a race to the bottom to see how far they can dumb football down

Barry Davies was up there with the best professional commentators in cricket. The good cricket commentators are (good) journalists first and cricket personalities second, however distinguished their playing careers may have been.
