Whelan thought that Colman may have been interested, but didn't want to interview Coleman or anyone else, because he doesn't know them like he knows Hutchings.

If Jewell is in fact just looking for a break from Footy then appointing Huchings is a smart move. It leaves the posssiblity for a refreshed Jewell to step back in if needed and Hutchins would revert to being his assistant again. I do find it hard to believe though that a Manager would resign so soon after the season is over without having something else lined up. After all he could have a decent rest before pre-season training.
