ok what's the deal here. Don't think I've yet been particularly impressed by him; fair play he's young, and seems to have ability but what's the solution? If he needs games, we can't really afford ropey performances until he finds his game. Or do we just f*** him off (along with Wilson who's obviously not going to make it).

 

He's a Uruguayan int'l, he must have played some real s***house games, but today - vs Oldham - he was completely owned. We'd have been better off with 10

His first 15 was Dossena Hull, Poulsen everyone bad. Not sure what to make of him, seems to do better v better even if he's still in a reserve team. Was worrying how physically dominated he was. Though it needs to be mentioned it's not easy when your opponent is allowed to elbow, use arms etc.

He is enthusiastic but he is naive - its the one thing I have gotten from him since Day 1.

 

He is a unit yet he very rarely imposes it.

 

I reckon he could become a really imposing defender in a few years time when he gets plenty of games. He has the willingness but as soon as he gets some 'anticipation' and can read the game better then his quality will come to the fore. That said, we don't have a place in our squad for a defender to cut his teeth in order to find himself.

When he played regularly at the Copa America he was great but Uruguay defend deep, so he has to learn to play with a high line, which is new to him & also being in a new country probably doesn't help much either.

 

The problem with young CBs is that they will make mistakes (like all young players) but when they make mistakes it may cost you games, but they have to play regularly to iron out the mistakes, we should be sending him out on loan for the rest of the season (and maybe even next season) or just sell him, and buy an older or more experienced player to play the 4th or 3rd CB role.

I've seen nothing so far that suggests he'll do well here.

 

Seems to do his best stuff reactively not pro-actively, which is no good for a centre back, regardless of size.

Though I agree with this. He must have some talent. I'm just yet to see it.

Getting dropped into that game did him no favours but that was a poor performance.

I see absolutely no point in selling him. He needs games. He's played feck all football since he signed for us.

 

Loan him out to another Premiership team for the remainder of the season. You cannot determine whether he's good enough or not until we see him play on a regular basis.

 

Yes he got owned today, but so have Carra/Agger/Skrtel against big target men in other games.
