Some competition for places eh ? Its going to be hard to find a starting place for Coates but at £12m then he's got to be given games surely ? So then who out of Agger, Carragher and Skrtel do you leave on the bench.

Edit...should be just one Johnson, but you get the idea. Also, i'm not saying that the £12m reported fee means he has to start straight away or play every week, just that if we are investing serious money, then like Henderson he's fairly likely to be heavily involved in the mix.

I think it'll be Carra and Agger remaining as first choice initially with Coates - if we get him of course - getting games when the inevitable injuries occur.

 

I think Skrtel might find it hard getting games.

kelly is a hard one. he's natural cover for agger in that he's a comfortable on the ball defender, but he's also a level above flanagan at the moment

Having four quality centre halves we can live with the fact that he only averages 25 games a season.
