honourablegeorge Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Hard work, important goals, sticks away penalties, misses sitters, does even more hard work, runs through quicksand, keeps on working He has his faults, but I f***ing love Dirk Kuyt..
Hector McDougal Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 It's hard not too. A very likable player, which is an exception these days. But he has been fairly crap on a whole this season.
Leo No.8 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) Worked incredibly hard last night, it was tiring just watching him run across their back line again and again to chase defenders down and did some extra work for Aquilani. Not sure I've ever seen a player with his energy and work rate, and for that reason mainly he has made himself a fans favourite despite his shortcomings. What I thought was interesting last night if he's likely to be spending more time up front with Torres out was his finishing. I think he's a good instinctive finisher (his early goal was outstanding) but given a bit more time he tends to overthink it or get there a bit too soon like he did on both of those volleys from close range. Maginificent effort from him last night though, and showed real balls with the penalties. Don't know about anyone else but I never doubted he'd score either time, I'm confident when he steps up to take a penalty and his technique with them is excellent. The first penalty was as good as any you'll see, the second as gutsy. Edited January 21, 2010 by Leo No.8
Zoob Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 I love Dirk, and despite his shortcomings, he must be a dream player for a manger in terms of the work he puts in, and doing what he's told to do. Scored 2 good goals yesterday, but also had 2 or 3 horrible misses that really could have cost us.
anny road Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 he has faults but f*** me if everyone showed this commitment and attitude we would be ok His nerve with the pens was incredible
CarraLegend Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Whats that 7 league goals now? Not bad really is it?
Swipe Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Has he missed any pens for us? Always looks very composed.
Tones Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 he has faults but f*** me if everyone showed this commitment and attitude we would be ok His nerve with the pens was incredible yeah if everyone worked as hard as him we would probably have won the league last year and wouldnt be in the trouble we dfind ourselves in this year. Whats that 7 league goals now? Not bad really is it? Not bad at all. 14 or so last year from Rm was a great return too for someone who allegedly isnt a goal threat.
john_lfc Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 He's s**** But, i like him! Always seems to come up with important goals for us, and you cant question his workrate
Clay Davis Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 He's s**** But, i like him! Always seems to come up with important goals for us, and you cant question his workrateAgreed.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 It's hard not too. A very likable player, which is an exception these days. But he has been fairly crap on a whole this season.Apart from Torres & Reina - who hasn't?
ManxRed Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Seemed like he was working overtime to try and get some partnership/understanding going with Aquilani too. Gerrard/Torres-Lite.
Noel Street Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 He's s**** But, i like him! Always seems to come up with important goals for us, and you cant question his workrate ahh thats nice of you you don't really think much of the players we're looking at or the ones that we have do you
psl Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 He's s**** But, i like him! Always seems to come up with important goals for us, and you cant question his workrate He's clearly not s***.
Kahnee Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Has he missed any pens for us? Always looks very composed. Scored two beauties last night, and that's not a word often asscociated with him
scoose Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 He scored a couple and worked hard last night. I noticed though the amount of times he ran wide or ended up back behind midfield was causing us a problem. Not sure how much of that was due to him and Aquilani not knowing how to play together or whether he is just that used to playing right midfield now but at one point in the second half he kept running over to the right wing which meant we had noone in the box to cross to. Aquilani/other midfielders probably should have been trying to get in the box at this point. Minor gripe as I was very happy with the effort last night.
Earl Hafler Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 On his day he's captain material. And the first goal reminded me of one of his first here - i think Garcia flicked it to him and he smashed it in. Seems to play well with someone with a bit of flair behind him. But he's s*** and i hate his f***ing guts. Allegedly.
richwilks Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Should have finished a couple of more chances but all round a good performance. I could just see Spurs nicking one at the end and us ruing those missed chances.
McBain Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Hard work, important goals, sticks away penalties, misses sitters, does even more hard work, runs through quicksand, keeps on working He has his faults, but I f***ing love Dirk Kuyt.. If you'd posted this 24 hours ago you'd be basking in smugness right now But it's easy to love someone when they just hit two goals and won a game

Snookie Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 he has faults but f*** me if everyone showed this commitment and attitude we would be ok His nerve with the pens was incredible Precisely. He never gives up, He never hides, no matter how he is playing. There are very few players with that kind of moral courage knocking around.
Owen1978 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Should have finished a couple of more chances but all round a good performance. I could just see Spurs nicking one at the end and us ruing those missed chances. was dreading it till the end, i thought those misses might come back to haunt us!
Dan Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Whats that 7 league goals now? Not bad really is it? So glad I had the bet with a couple of Mancs that he'd score more league goals than Owen
Tones Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 So glad I had the bet with a couple of Mancs that he'd score more league goals than Owen hmmm didnt someone on here say Owen would score more than Kuyt too?
Rich Gobey Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 hmmm didnt someone on here say Owen would score more than Kuyt too? According to some, Owen should have something approaching half of a hat full by now, due to United creating so many chances...
