he's got to be a better option than heinze for them. good lad.

surprised they've dropped lisandro though, he's started the season really well.

I could probably get a call up if I had an Argentinian passport at the moment. ;)

Good stuff and well deserved. Rafa's done really well to ease Insua into the team and then from this season he's just seemed like a natural inclusion. No doubt he'll give Aurelio a run for his money this season.

Lucas has also been called up for Brazil. Really happy for him, deserves it too.

Well done Insua. Let's hope he gets a few minutes of pitch time.

Argentina are going through a bad phase at the moment so you never know, Maradonna might be looking to make some serious changes.

Delighted for the lad.

Well in lad.

That defence is a bit s*** no? Not that I follow Argentina, but surely they are better than picking championship players and has beens? Is this about injuries, retirements, loos of form of has Maradona just lost it, or never had it

They're not exactly over-run with top class defenders, but Maradona doesn't have a clue what he is doing. Garay, Samuel etc. aren't in the squad, yet Coloccini is.

I see Higuain has finally been called up. Some sense.

Maradona's squads have been more than a little odd. He's recalled Ariel Ortega for an Argentina only based squad even those he's pushing 36 to play along side Martin Palermo, whose also the same age but then again, at least he's not an alcoholic, playing in the second division like Ortega.

Well done to Insua though.

Absolutely mental that he hadn't been called up before now. He's fantastic and a lot better than Tevez. I was hoping he might be a casualty of Real's big namez policy and we could snaffle him up.

As for Insua good for the lad but this means he's now going to be going off midweek and missing our weekend games...which is frustrating.

I really like the combination of him and Riera down the left flank

Riera was good once we went two up but before that he was making Insua's job a lot harder than it needed to be. Insua's been really good this season especially for a player that age but I still think he needs a little bit of protection from the player in front of him. More than what he got in the first half anyway. Did well today though. Thought he was the better of the two in the first half while Riera was good in the second half.

Oh no :(

Lets just hope Aurelio doesnt get into the Brazil squad or else our only 2 competent LB's could be jet setting around the world :(

Great to see the lad getting what he deserves, should really fire him up to keep improving. Hell, it should show the other young players in our ranks what's possible if you have the right attitude and are good enough.

Must admit though, it is a bit of a worry that both of our worthwhile left backs will be going off to South America in International breaks.

Who's the left back for the ressies now Insua has moved up? It's not Buchtmann yet is it, is he still in u-18s? (im intentionally ignoring Dossena cos he's feckin rubbish at left back).

Buchtmann has made a few reserve appearances I think. I expect him to feature a lot more. He's very good.

Dead chuffed for Insua, but Maradona is proving to be a crazier manager than anyone could have realised. He's left out Maxi Rodriguez and Javier Zanetti and called up Jonas Guttierez and Coloccini, the beak filled loon.

I Like Insua, I think having a left midfielder (Rather than a winger) in front of him brings out teh best, much like Kuyt ahead of Johnson on the right. I'm leaning towards Bena being on the left side when Insua plays, with potentially the Doss or Aurelio in front of him for the bigger games maybe.

the team has the best balance it has had for years right now, and you want to change it.

ok.

Maradona only took the job for the away days against Colombia.

His pre match team talk there was cut short by severe dry mouth. His assistant had to finish it for him while the boss was last seen heading for the bogs rolling up a note.

I can understand changing the team balance for Benayoun (not like we haven't tried him there this season as it is) or Aurelio (excellent player), but Dossena? I know he's a better left midfielder than left back, but that doesn't justify throwing our whole season away!

Even though it was a poor performance by the team in general I thought Insua had an absolute shocker tonight - no clangers just seem to get caught out time and time again out of position - he seemed to really struggle all night.

Can't remember him being as poor before but hopefully it was a one off. Maybe internationals catching up with him?
