Andy @ Allerton Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has surprisingly revealed he hopes Manchester United beat Barcelona in Wednesday’s Champions League final. Speaking to local press, Gerrard said: “I hope it’s a very good game from a neutral point of view,” “I’ll be watching the game and hope there is a lot of entertainment. It’s obviously a difficult question. But I’ve got a lot of good friends who play for Manchester United so I hope they win, although obviously I’m sitting on the fence.” Liverpool and Manchester United share one of the greatest and fiercest rivalries in English football, but it seems Gerrard’s affinity for some of his England colleagues such as Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand have led him to back the English league champions. Bloody hell. What a git.
Nebraska Red Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) sell him!!! hard for him not to say he wants the Mancs to win. if he said anything else, the press would be all over him. luckily, we have a keeper who has the right idea. Reina desperate for Barca win Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina will be rooting for Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final because he does not want Manchester United to win another trophy. The Spaniard and his Anfield team-mates could not prevent the Red Devils from lifting a third successive Premier League title after Sir Alex Ferguson's men wrapped up the silverware last weekend. And Reina is now desperate for Barca to stop United from becoming the first team to successfully defend the Champions League when the two teams meet in Rome on 30th May. Reina, who was a part of the Liverpool side that recorded home and away wins over United earlier in the season, admits it is not a simple task to defeat Ferguson's men, but he hopes Barca have what it takes. "I don't want to see our greatest rivals winning another title," the former Barcelona player told RAC-1. "The truth is that it is not easy to beat Manchester United twice in a season. "The key was that we approached both games with nerve and played a passing game from man to man. That is the way to do most damage. "I believe Barca will play that way and I hope they win because they are a Spanish team and because I do not want our great rivals winning titles." "and like my good mate Andy @ always says, I f******* ******* the M***S" Edited May 21, 2009 by Nebraska Red
Barnesy_10 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Mockers? Could be worse, he could be putting money on them to win each week
Frosty Jack Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I'm with A@A on this one. He can't possibly play for us again. Sell him and use the money to buy Garry Barry and someone else.
Hassony Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 sell him!!! hard for him not to say he wants the Mancs to win. if he said anything else, the press would be all over him. Rubbish Has Raul said that he wants Barca to win ?
Billy Dane Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 so I hope they win, although obviously I’m sitting on the fence.” You just refuse to comment you numptie
MFletcher Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 It's called diplomacy. Take the pro-good friends, pro-England stance in public and hope they get hammered in private. What do people expect? 'I hope they lose' becomes GERRARD JOINS RAFA IN ANTI-UNITED TIRADE; LIVERPOOL SKIPPER PRAYS FOR BARCA VICTORY I don't know why people give this sort of non-story the time of day.
Farmer's Tan Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 i couldn't give a s**** who he wants to win,what difference does it make?

Flanders Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Sometimes, if you can't say something sensible then say nothing. I can't imagine Rooney, Neville, Ferdinand et all said soemthing similar prior to our last final.
Hassony Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 i couldn't give a s**** who he wants to win, what difference does it make? He is the Liverpool captain, He has more of a duty to his fans than his England team mates

I can't imagine Rooney, Neville, Ferdinand et all said soemthing similar prior to our last final. Indeed - I'm trying to imagine Rooney saying he wants Liverpool to win the 'Champions' League because he's mates with a few players there.
Swipe Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) Who cares. Rooney is like a feral boy compared to the way Gerrard handles himself, so you can't hold Stevie up to the way Rooney talks about us. Gerrard has never said he hates the Mancs the way Rooney said he hates Liverpool. Should he get criticised for that. Don't care who Stevie wants to win next Wednesday. I still hope Barca t*** them! Farmer's Tan Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 He is the Liverpool captain, He has more of a duty to his fans than his England team mates true maybe,as he mentions he has a few friends playing for them and if you're like me then you like to see your friends do well, why should he be any different, its not like we have a stake in it.
