We wont make them run around much either. Not only do players get to go on more holidays and enjoy more time with their families, but they'll be less knackered too. Maybe that is what Slot told Wirtz to convince him to join us over Bayern.

He's a decent option from the bench. His pace would come in handy on the wing when defenders are tired, but yea he's not good enough to be starting.

I don't think I'm very good at this watching football thing, as I thought Wirtz played ok and did some nice link up play, and thought that Jones was poor. Seeing him walk back after losing the ball yet again made my blood boil. That said, I def agree that Isak was ineffective. He just looks weak, slow and not bothered. -
Depressing to watch that analysis but we can all see it with our eyes. My concern is how can we get back that pressing ability. The players we've signed, it doesn't seem to be in their locker. I remember reading about how Isak doesnt press much and thought well, we can probably get away with it as he's going to score loads.

We really were spoiled with Jurgen, as he was everything. I like Alonso, and would be happy with him, but ideally we want someone berating the s*** out of anyone who's not doing their job right and he's not that kind of fella. Are there any up and coming managers out there who are tactically astute but also inspiring?
-
Any time they slip up the knives come out for him. Feel he doesn’t get enough out of their players and plays turgid football. I can’t stand the sight of him personally and even if he won the league for them I wouldn’t want him managing us.

Are there any happy fans anywhere? Arsenal fans hate Arteta as well. Does stand out to me how much more booing there is at stadiums around the PL these days. I guess football has become less fun in a lot of ways to watch, so if teams don’t produce results then fans are quicker to show their disproval.

Thought the game was on tomorrow, and completely missed it. First time in years I've done that. Watched the highlights...how on earth did we not score more than one. Gakpo clearing it off the line for them. Virgil also should be putting that away. I do think if we hadnt been s*** most of this season then we'd chalk this one up to just one of those games, but yep this can't continue.

Football has been fun again today. Really really needed that. Feels great! -
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Surely this can't be true? I'd be alright with a million a year to play for my local team but that's a tenth of what a lot of his teammates are on. They probably feel bad asking him to get the round in.

I thought we showed a little more today. We hunted them down in packs and it looked almost comfortable at one point. Back to that feeling of we def winning this one. I've had an almost irrational dislike of Kerkez but he was decent, apart from the stupid slide tackle in their box which you could see happening a mile off. Then they began to have acres of space in the centre of the park. A Fabinho style player would have nullified that - perhaps Macca should have come on earlier. Incredibly frustrating and entirely predictable that they score and we just lose the ability to play. We need that Steve Peters lad back. I'm trying to tell myself that I don't care as much anymore and I shouldn't let the game ruin my weekend. It's easier to do when not as much is riding on the results. -

There were some moments in pre-season where we played some absolutely scintillating stuff. Truly thought we were going to go up a gear and dominate world football for a while. To go from that to what we play now seems mad. Has ever a team dropped this hard before? I felt so damn fortunate to have Slot last year and I'm struggling to go completely against him now, but he's got an absolute mountain to climb. -
When I saw this thread had jumped 20 pages I thought he’d been sacked and my initial reaction wasn’t “oh good”. I do think it’s going to be a huge ship to turn around and I’m not optimistic it’s going to happen but last season he seemed such an adaptable tactician. I feel the hopelessness but surely we’ve got to give him a little more time to see if he can overturn this slump. Does feel like the gods of football have decided we were having far too much fun last season and now are punishing us. We have been bad this season but we’ve have some poor luck as well.

It's a shame Frimprong is injured as his pace at the end of the game would have been very useful.

Bradley MOTM for me. What a performance against perhaps the trickiest player in the world. That was the liverpool we know and love. -

I don't have a cat to kick so going to have a go at Kerkez. Out of all our signings, I really thought he would be perhaps the most helpful as LB was looking a problem last season. He's been poor all season but today was a stand out performance of ineptitude. It's clear no one trusts him with the ball as well. None of the signings outside of Etikite have improved upon what we had. Which is really surprising considering how much we've spent. They don't seem suited to our way of pressing and aggression and it means we have an incredibly frustrating team to watch, especially when we're not in control of the game. -
We're 4 points off top with many games still to play. Incredibly frustrating as our start has been, it's mad to be throwing in the towel. We had an insane amount of luck in the first four games and not had much since then. Arne needs to learn from our mistakes and get a little optimism back in our play. Let's get a win at Brentford and start this revival.

Match Topic Chelsea vs Liverpool - Premier League, 4th October @ 5:30pm

Just s***e all round. Chelsea players ran more than us. We signed players who don't really want to do that. Which is maybe ok against weaker teams but the PL is as strong as it ever was and you can't really sit on your a***. Frustrating and I'm not sure what we can really do apart from see if we kept any receipts. -
He needs bulking up a bit and to find a bit more aggression. He does a few things which make you go wow, but right now he's failing to have any control. He's also being bullied off the ball far too easily. I do think he'll improve but the lack of pace is something that irks me maybe more than it should.
