I'd think about starting Mac Allister for 45 minutes. He needs game time.

Yeah I had him in then took him out as I thought a rest would be better, not sure

I wouldn't play him until about November

Think he'd be better with a chance to rest and recover from the stuff that's niggling him TBH

Hope to see something like

Mamardashvili

Frimpong Gomez Leoni Robbo

Jones Endo Nyoni

Chiesa Isak Ngumoha

Danns on the bench & most of the first team at home with their feet up

He needs match sharpness at this point, not rest, now he may not play bc that would have been his 4th game in 10 days but he looks rusty bc he hasnt had a proper pre season and needs playing time

Depends if he's rusty (in which case I agree with what you've posted) or carrying a knock - looks more like the latter to me

Looks like Argentina are only playing friendlies in the next international break. Would be really good to see him not go for those.

Chiesa, Wirtz, Isak, Frimpong, Gomez all need to start. They need minutes, Wirtz needs to have a good game all be it against lower league opposition.

Slot has already said that Ali, virgil, Ibou, Grav, Dom and Salah will be nowhere near this game. Referenced how the lads who have experience of 3 games a week have been the only ones he's be willing to not rotate and so they'll not be playing in the 'Milk Cup' (his words, not mine 😉 😜

I'd start Nyoni instead of Endo

I'd have absolutely none of the first team in the squad for this one.

And that has nothing to do with the fact that I thought I had a ticket for it, but it fell through.

Played the kids or will we start Wirtz and Mac and Robbo and Isak because we have collectively lost our minds? I mean it’s Southampton, at home in the league cup third round ffs!

However, the competition offers a clear chance for squad rotation amid a hectic schedule in the Premier League and Champions League, with Slot confirming that none of captain Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Mohamed Salah, Gravenberch or Dominik Szoboszlai will be involved against Southampton.

“I can tell you now you won't be seeing them on Tuesday,” Slot said of that quintet after the win over Everton. “If that's any help for Southampton then they will know

Seems to be a kids game, yes.

Pretty decent case for playing all four of them on form or fitness grounds.

Personally wouldn’t have Mac A or Wirtz near this

I reckon Wirtz needs a goal or assist more than he needs a rest.

Absolutely

Use this to get him and Isak firing

Marma, Frimpong, Gomez, Leoni, Robertson, Endo, Jones, Chiesa, Isak, Rio - all need time on the pitch. If they don't play in the cup when are some of them going to get a game? It's then between Alexis, Flo and Nyoni as to who is in most need of a start.

Isak and Wirtz will play at the weekend.  I'd be surprised to see either of them start this.

Marmadashvilli, Frimpong, Gomez, Leoni, Robertson, Endo, Jones, Chiesa, Isak, Ngumoha, Nyoni

Would be a very interesting starting 11.

Fair few of those will start one of the subsequent three games.

Palace/Galatasaray/Chelsea is a nasty run of aways within a few days, so I’d say this probably is a “play the kids” situation.

this is pretty key too - we just came off 3 tough games but all at home, now we have 3 tough on the road. Gala is Tues though which is probably for the better. I'd take a draw there (I'd never take a draw, but I mean a draw is fine, if we win the other two)
