Case Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Right. Trent hopefully fit. Lovren fit, Fabinho fit, Milner available and fit. Hendo, VVD and Mo hopefully got their energy back - they each looked fecked on Wednesday. Players in their more natural positions. Let’s tear into this lot.
quibs Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 The cold weather training will do them some good this week.
Begbie Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 ABTrent/Milner Matip VVD Robbo Hendo Fab Gini Mo Bobby Mane
McBain Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) ABTrent/Milner Matip VVD Robbo Hendo Fab Gini Mo Bobby ManeYep. Though it'll almost certainly be Milner not Trent Edited February 1, 2019 by McBain
Farmer's Tan Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Terrible move by Klopp letting Clyne go in the middle of an injury crisis in the position he was covering. Now we have older slow midfielders having to cover and as a result teams are are attacking and getting in behind on that side, causing us loads of problems and making us look vulnerable where once we looked rock solid.
Flasher Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 ABTrent/Milner Matip VVD Robbo Hendo Fab Gini Mo Bobby ManeWe don't play 433 anymore
Hightown Phil Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 We don't play 433 anymore We did against Palace which was only two games ago.
Earl Hafler Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I think this might be a fairly comfortable win for us - three or four goals minimum. They've lost their last three but they're at home to the best side in the country, so whilst they'll probably try to keep it tight for the first 20 minutes, one of two things should happen :1 ) They'll fail, as their defence is porous and confidence is fragile. We'll score early and they'll buckle.2 ) It will remain 0-0 but their indiscipline will begin to force them to push out, mistakenly believing they can get a result. We'll react positively to the Leicester result, we have quality players retuning to full fitness and it's possible City will drop more points at home to Arsenal 1 point against Leicester is disappointing, but 4 pts against Leicester and West Ham and extending our lead over City...marvellous

You can play a midfielder and be less defensively secure, or you can play Clyne and be inferior offensively. Really is swings and roundabouts. If I was manager of a team playing a Liverpool team with Clyne in, I'd spend the entire game trying to get Liverpool to pass to him, wouldn't even bother marking him. Hassony Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Can we please all stop w***ing on about Clyne. He's gone. Deal with it.It's worse than people crying about coutinho leaving, I mean Phil was probably our best player, Clyne is our 3rd/4th choice right back
schmuckdonald Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Think it's unfortunate that we've played Palace and Leicester during this period. You aren't facing Gray or Zaha every week. Trent, Gomez, Milner, Henderson and Comacho is fine. Missing three players from one position is something you can't always mitigate, besides it could be that Clyne didn't want to stay.

Farmer's Tan Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Clyne was our best defensive left back, England international with brilliant defensive stats who was fit and playing well, playing in a position where everyone was injured, even the cover. To suggest that it's makes little difference who we play there is a bad joke. Winning the league is about little advantages, those slight details are the difference between winning and drawing, being champs or coming second. It matters believe it or not and it was a fairly obvious issue at the time Clyne was let go. It's very poor decision making and one that might still cost us. Edited February 1, 2019 by Farmer's Tan

Whether we win the league or not isn't going to be decided by a guy who played a handful of games in the last 6 months.

schmuckdonald Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Would you say the same about Sturridge? A guy coming on for 15 minutes to try and score a goal is different to some guy being marginally better at right back for a couple of games.

Trent wasn't injured when he left and he'll never be in an England squad again in his life.

Hightown Phil Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 how do you know he wont? he is a brilliant defensive fullback much better defensively than Trent. Because Trent, Trippier, Walker and Wan Bissaka all exist.

On Monday they've got to cope with Felipe Anderson. And the week after that they've got Bournemouth with Wilson, Brooks and Fraser
Farmer's Tan Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 And he is better defensively than them all.
Hightown Phil Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 And he is better defensively than them all. And he's comfortably worse at attacking than all of them. How many top sides can you think of who's full backs have 'defending' as their biggest strength?
