The write up looks great.....

I have written about corruption, I've written about crime, I've written about bad men and I've written about the demons. But now I've had enough of the bad men and the demons. Now I want to write about a good man. And a saint. A Red Saint. Bill Shankly was not just a great football manager. Bill Shankly was one of the greatest men who ever lived

I'm sold.

am sure jostling is already taking place over who will play the lead in the movie adaptation. book could be something else though, have loved his previous stuff.

Oh class.

Is Peace a red then?

Not originally - when writing DU he spoke about going to Huddersfield Town - another Shankly club, of course - with his Dad as a youngster. Maybe he has become a Red since. Very excited about this book.

* I've posted on here before that I would love him to do for Hillsborough what he did for the Miners Strike, a 're-imagining'. GB84 is really, really powerful. The thematic correspondance with that work (Thatcher, SYP, media lies, corruption, demonisation of working classes ) and with the subject matter of DU (erm, Football, Clough tangentially) struck me as really apt.

Think this one might be just beyond Michael Sheen

Looking forward to this.

I wonder who'll play Shankly in the film adaptation :)

Edit : Just noticed Stevie H got there before me.

My housemate when I was in Tokyo taught with him for a bit when he was a teacher out there and was trying to get the writing going.

A film would be fantastic wouldn't it. Trying to think who's be good for it. Pretty difficult to play someone that magnetic. Would they water down the accent, hope not, was part of the charm.
