Our biggest priority if we are spending that sort of money has to be another threatening player who scores, can play wide and will create chances. I'd have to go for Juan Mata.

Hodgson of course. £3m to pay off Benitez, £1m to pay off Al-Fayed, £1.5m to pay Hodgson's wages, £7.5m to pay off Hodgson. Which leaves £7m remaining, which isn't quite enough to buy Poulsen and Konchesky, so hawk Lucas around and see if there's a buyer.

Yeah Mata seems the obvious answer, and I can't think of a better one

But I really like Santi Carzola as well and was pleased to see him linked with us a week or so ago (although it seems to have disappeared a bit now). He's apparantly available for 20m Euro

Then there is obviously Javi Martinez, but I think if I can only have one player, it would be a more attacking one, so one of the first two

 

But I only watch English and Spanish footy, so I'm not the best scout

Almost definately Xabi Alonso. Price and wages in line with this i would think, and the value for teh youngsters learning off him & the rhythm he brings to our play are worth double the values imho.
