I think Dirk could play Full Back and still be fecking great. All this talk about the Carroll partnership and Dirk has stepped right up and become even better than he was before. He's always involved in everything and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time more than most. He has certainly discovered his scoring boots again and I would go as far as to say he has probably been one or if not the best player in the league these past two months. He is a Liverpool legend in the making and is looking better every game.

kuyt carrol and suarez as the main striking options,as was mentioned in other posts get a quality youngster as 4th choice some pace out wide, that would do for a start.

Even more depressing that, in the Moan Stand yesterday, some whopper was giving him grief and complaining that he didn't know how he was even a professional footballer....

Some of our fans are complete knobheads. There was a whopper in the Kop claiming that Lucas was 's****' and 'should be sold as soon as possible'

f***ing unbelievable.

Apparently Dirk and Luis are talking to each other in Dutch on the field, which should help to confuse defenders.

for sure

Carrol will struggle to get a game with the way Dirk and Luis have gelled.

its a brilliant partnership

He's also 8 out of 8 for pens, 9 out of 9 if you count the CL shoot-out against Chelsea.

since suarez came here he seems to have brought the best out of kuyt, they look like they get on great and enjoy playing up front together

its very similar to when torres came here and it seemed to push gerrard on to a higher level, they both gelled from day one

kuyt has definitely upped his game by about 20% since suarez came into the team

I think, in many ways, Kuyt and Suarez play is pretty similar so they work well together.

They both put in a big shift each game. They both go looking for the ball to a degree and draw out wide. You end up with a situation where they end up buzzing around each other. Must be a nightmare for defenders.

Also a run down (from memory) of some of Dirk Kuyt's penalties.

1) Final penalty of the shootout against Chelsea to send Liverpool to the final

2) Penalty to equalise against Everton away

3) Penalty in stoppage time to beat Everton away

4) Penalty in stoppage time to beat Spurs last season

5) Penalty to draw level with Everton at Anfield

6) Penalty in stoppage time to equalise against Arsenal

That's a pretty impressive showing of bottle.

Not sure it's just about upping his game. Suarez in attack and Spearing in midfield = Kuyt doing less donkey work, enjoying his football and being in the area more often

Chelsea have worked the 4-3-3 very well... are we starting to look like the same even with the players we have (allowing for a variety of positional switches involving same players)

Gerrard/shelvey Lucas/spearing/gerrard Mereiles/cole

Kuyt/maxi/cole/gerrard Caroll/kuyt Suarez/maxi/cole

If we add one genuine CM and one genuine attacking/creative player to each of those banks of players, use the kids then I reckon we're in decent shape (allowing also for trading up on one or two of those where poss..)

That bunch can also do 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 and 4-5-1 or even 3-5-2 as kenny has played this. Strong fullbacks are key to this IMHO

Alot of pressure moments. Dirk is clearly the man.

And not one of his pens has looked scruffy, or made you think the Keeper could have got it.

Sunday's was absolutely text book and unstoppable. Should be him to take them even when Stevie is back, although tbf, Stevie has scarcely had a bad one for a long time.

f*** me, his penalties are well and truly mockered now.

Ha, I thought that on Sunday after me and my lad had this exact discussion after his last one (City?).
