Woodsyla Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Anyone else think it was mostly s*** keeping. Almunia seemed to misjudge the flight and dive under it. For me it was not as good as 'spit' Beckham's or Xabi's where the keeper didn't fall over.
Guest DanTheDaggerman Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Think it is definitely goal of the season so far. Agree that it is not as good as those two mentioned, but certainly better than Geovanni's.

muleskinner Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 It was a fantastic piece of skill, if any of our players had done it people would be salivating and rightly so.

Agree that it is not as good as those two mentioned, but certainly better than Geovanni's.I think Richardson's free kick was better than both. A f***ing howitzer that was past Given (a keeper with great reflexes) before he could move (I think he waved at it). I just think Bentley's was a speculative effort made into a 'wonder' goal by s*** keeping. I preferred Ronaldo's goal because of Berbatov's skill on the byeline, that was incredible. Even in slow motion his feet move quickly !!!!!
John am Rhein Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Sh*t goalkeeping, but that's not Bentley's fault
Stevie H Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Think it is definitely goal of the season so far. Agree that it is not as good as those two mentioned, but certainly better than Geovanni's.i think bentley's was arguably saveable but geovanni's just wasn't. It was a fantastic piece of skill, if any of our players had done it people would be salivating and rightly so.but i agree with this.
matty Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Matt Taylor's free kick against West Ham was better than Richardson's.
Woodsyla Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 Matt Taylor's free kick against West Ham was better than Richardson's.Missed that one, he does have previous.
Dublinred4ever Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Zakis scissor kick goal against us has to be up there ... Heard Bentleys goal described as being from 50 yards on the radio this morning!
Sion Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 What made Bentleys better was that he controlled hit and hit in on the full volleyAlmunia really should a) have been awake b) positioned a lot better and c) had a stronger hand to itthough
Tones Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 It was great skill and a great strike. Definately think the keeper could have done better. Are England really that desperate for keepers that they are considering Almunia??
Swipe Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 The keeper should never have been beat from the distance with the ball looping over his head. Terrible positioning. But saying that, it was a fantastic goal. The one touch then volley movement was sublime. When it was shown from camera behind the goal it looked even better. He bent it and all. Agree about Almunia. Ourselves and Chelsea defo have the edge on the other two 'big four' teams in terms of keepers.
whitewidow Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Xabi's against Chelsea.... look no further for Goal of the Season
Alonso Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Thought Lampards goal was exceptionalNa, was a cross!!

It wasn't terrible positioning... but it was a very poor effort... went with the outside hand.. misjudged it. he could have easily put his left hand up and make a routine save.....
Montse Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Na, was a cross!! I honestly thought it was a cross!
Cobs Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 technically it was a brilliant goal but he doesn't play for Liverpool therefore it was schite
carrafan Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 We've had some fantastic individual goals this season and are still only a quarter way into it. On another note, no wonder goalkeepers prefer to punch it than risk catching it and fumbling; the balls do so much these days.

Paddy 66 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 It was a good effort but awful goalkeeping, he should have saved that.
Cobs Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 It was a good effort but awful goalkeeping, he should have saved that. by growing a foot taller?
Senrab_nhoj Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 by growing a foot taller? By putting his hand nearest the ball behind its trajectory.... should have made it easily, nothing to do with his height...
