New York Red Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 We have a lot of them and it looks like they have a lot of promise. Who will make it and who won't? Reina -- The top dog for many years unless he gets homesickItandje -- It would be nice to sell him for a couple of millionCavalieri -- Will he be happy as second fiddle? He seems to be pretty good.Mihaylov -- He may be a hidden gem. Great physical specimen. Martin -- Time may have passed him by. Maybe he'll move on.Gulacsi -- Had a great championship this summer. Very impressive from what I've read.Bouzanis -- Great potential also. Big kid. I can't see too many hangers on there and it seems like they all have loads of potential.
fyds Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Disgaree about Martin - fine keeper who will (with luck) eventually stand a chance of superceding Pepe. I rate him very highly. Mihaylov looks a bit ropey from what I've seen of him in the reserves - early days though - and Cavalieri needs a bit of work too - possibly mostly communication wise.
New York Red Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 Doesn't it seem like we've got a lot of talent there? It seems a bit unusual.
magneto Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Bouzanis for me. He'll be Greek number 1 in a few years and is just a fantastic shot stopper at his level.
Benitez Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 maybe the plan is, buy a goalie each season for the next 2 or 3 seasons, sell at a profit a year later (obviously that has gone a bit wrong with Itandje at the moment ). Then in a couple years, we have a load of young goalies ready to either play for the 1st team, or to sell on at a profit! We are establishing a goalie production line.

Swagger Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Mihaylov -- He may be a hidden gem. Great physical specimen. You seem to have a way with words NYR. You make him sound like a newly discovered species ...
Spike Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 We should always have a ginger keeper as our number 2
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 We should always have a ginger keeper as our number 2 all of our subs should be ginger
Guest Silkky Skillz Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Bouzanis for me. He'll be Greek number 1 in a few years and is just a fantastic shot stopper at his level. Isn't he australian?
Bo Benn Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Granted I've seen very little/nothing of our non-Reina keepers, but really can't see us keeping any of the ones listed for more than a couple of seasons. Pepe is only 26 - could have as much as ten more years in him and he is a marvellous talent imo. Maybe only 5 or 6 players in the world can measure up to him and I don't think any of our backups stand a chance, not now and not in the long run either.
New York Red Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 You seem to have a way with words NYR. You make him sound like a newly discovered species ... I'm the Charles Darwin of football.
cymrococh Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Apart from Martin in reserve matches, where have people seen any of these players enough to make a valuable judgement on them?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 We should always have a ginger keeper as our number 2the perfect goat scape
floyd Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Some good goalkeepers at clubs like our's fail, because they don't have the mental concentration. One moment in the match, compared to say 8 - 10 at other clubs, mean they are put under more constant pressure. That's why, what with all the injuries he's suffered, Cech is making more and more mistakes. His brain is pickled after the injuries he's suffered.
Snoeker Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I'm the Charles Darwin of football. Na, that's Guus Hiddink. And Otto Rehagel (spelling?)
Hieronymus Bosch Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Mihaylov -- He may be a hidden gem. Great physical specimen.Wasn't some club rumoured to have bid several million for him?
New York Red Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Wasn't some club rumoured to have bid several million for him? A German one I think, though he will be with FC Twente again this year.

Kahnee Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Disgaree about Martin - fine keeper who will (with luck) eventually stand a chance of superceding Pepe. I rate him very highly. I've got him on loan at Charlton at the moment and the little b*****d is incapable of keeping a clean sheet
magneto Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Isn't he australian? Born and raised but has opted for Greece.

New York Red Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 I'm genuinely astonished that this question hasn't been answered I'd be interested in first-hand observations. All I have done is read about them. I'm genuinely interested.
