I am becoming excited :o

Keen as I am to talk our chances up, we still haven't managed to beat a single good team this season.

Arsenal are the best team we've come up against, and we got away with that, to an extent. Admittedly, we're playing better now than we were, and parts of that game we were good, but we still have it all to prove.

Arsenal game could have gone either way to be fair, and Chelsea we really should have won.

Is it fair to say that Arsenal haven't beaten a good team either - drawing with us and Man Utd?

I see Torres more as a Rush, a finisher rather than a creator.

Porto were pretty handy.

The bitters are having a good season for them lot.

And who can forget Toulouse.

See what you mean.

Nice use of anti-mockers there, lad.

no, arsenal beat villa and spurs (local derby) away, if only we managed to beat villa and everton away, we would be right to get excited

That's a fair statement. Althoguh they've looked better, and have beaten more mediocre ones than us, they've not proved it yet either.

To be fair how many good/top teams will we come up against in the league? The only games I would have lower expectations in not getting anything out of are away to the other 3 in the top 4.

Aye. Games where your best might be short on the day

Do you get extra points for beating 'big teams'??

No, but you get three points on the day, and the big teams get none.

Recent games against the likes of Chelsea and United have mainly widened the gap, rather than narrowing it.

My point is that we must keep seeing off the so-called weaker sides and not worry about the bigger sides, those performances are a given. Look at UTD last week and we took our 3.

I'm not disagreeing on that, but in the main, United/Chelsea/Arsenla don't tend to have trouble with the small teams. If we do stay in the race, and it becomes a three/four way battle, as looks (fingers crossed) likely, results against the big teams get more and more important. We need to take at least three points each off United, Chelsea & Arsenal, IMO.

31 + 7 = 1. it's like 26 + 6 = 1 but about football.

Three points each at least, eh?

Extra points for artistic impression.

I think people are slowly starting to realise that we might not actually be as bad as they want us to be. Our goal difference is the same as "the best team the world has ever seen" Arsenal yet we have had a pretty sizeable dip in form whereas Arsenal have yet to falter. The media are almost scared to suggest we might be in with a chance because it goes against everything they have been saying since the start of the season.

I think the press/media are starting to sit up and take note though. If we can get a result against the mancs then we may even see someone put their neck on the line by daring to suggest we are in the running this season.

It changes all the time, start of the season, first four games up till the international break, we were contenders and talked up as Man U were talked down, but not dismissed due to their record. Chelsea were written off by the general wave when Mourinho was offed.

We drew a few games as Man U won a load in a row and Arsenal rolled on, so we are written off and dismissed due to our record, and it's between Arsenal and Man U. Chelsea win a few in a row and they are contenders again, but of course, because their players have won it, they have credibility.

We win a few and have the points to be contenders again, if not the credibility and people that wrote us off are confused and looking for yeh buts as we were supposed to fall off the pace. One I heard today was no chance cos we have to go away to the others in the second half of the season. It changes all the time, people feel they have to be first to call it or look for absolutes.

Agree that Arsenal have been playing at a kind of peak, but they have managed a few missing players along the way, so it can go either way, agree with whomever says they may not react well to a big (status not size) loss.
