Guest Kaizer Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Arbeloa really needs to up his game, last night he was beaten all the time and most of the time he could not even come close to be the first man to get to the goalscorer. 1. Carra, Voronin and Babel beat him.2. Kewell beat him.3. Did not even see him there.4. as much as 5 players got there before him.
_00_deathscar Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Clearly he's lost the passion to play for this club. I think this is unacceptable and we should place him on the transfer list.
Smith Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Clearly he's lost the passion to play for this club. I think this is unacceptable and we should place him on the transfer list. You've got no idea as to how close you are.
Walrus Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 In all seriousness, he was surprisingly poor last night.
The Hitman Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I thought Finnan had a great game yesterday, very good.
Gunga Din Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 i'm yet to see what all teh fuss is about Arbeloa, he is decent, nothing more. i still think we need 2 new fullbacks
McBain Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 i'm yet to see what all teh fuss is about Arbeloa, he is decent, nothing more. i still think we need 2 new fullbacks Agree pretty much with this He's good at a lot of things but not great at anything. A perfect squad player really
Guest RedLegend Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I thought Finnan had a great game yesterday, very good. Finnan was very good last night. Saved Arbeloa's bacon at one point as well just before half-time.
Will Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Al is my new favourite player, but he had a below-par game last night
Senrab_nhoj Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I thought Finnan had a great game yesterday, very good. I don't think he had a 'great game'.... struggling to recall too much good/bad. Porto in first half were looking to use their left as their outlet and/or to isolate him in the way many a team would fire crossfield balls to the right when Riise is at LB... his miskick cross with his left that ended up as a cross field pass was of good comedy value though
Maldini Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I can't keep up with this, a couple of weeks ago he and Aurelio should start every game and Finnan was finished. Can we have some sort of kneejerk barometer so I can keep up with the consensus?

Can we have some sort of kneejerk barometer so I can keep up with the consensus? and now Arbeloa is now nothing but average, yet early in the season he was great I thought he was ok last night, he is a good player though, been impressed with him this season. Certainly not an average squad player. At least people seem to agree that Riise is not very good!

Can we have some sort of kneejerk barometer so I can keep up with the consensus?Along the lines of Sky's invaluable graphic that shows who has had the ball for the last two minutes that they only use when it has been 95% to one of the teams?

Fecking winds me up, that. "And how long has the ball been in play for that 5 minutes, you f***ing dicks?!"
Stevie H Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Along the lines of Sky's invaluable graphic that shows who has had the ball for the last two minutes that they only use when it has been 95% to one of the teams?insignificant minutiae, dude. it's sky's lifeblood.

Guest Kaizer Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I said before the match it could be a good idea to use Riise because of his ability defending crosses, since I could see Porto get a lot of crosses in, thats usually how they play. I think this is a part of Riise`s game that often is overlooked, he would have dealt with the situation when they scored, I`m pretty sure about that.
The Hitman Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I don't think he had a 'great game'.... struggling to recall too much good/bad. Kahnee Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 he would have dealt with the situation when they scored. Pretty much sums up Riise - if could deal with situations BEFORE a team scores against us, he'd be a real asset

That reads like a hygiene factor for a full back and how you go from that to him having a 'great game' is where I struggle
Gary Wolf Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I thought Finnan had a great game yesterday, very good. While Finnan was eating Quaresma up with all his bones, Arbeloa was looking our weekest defensive link.
RafaShanks Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Arbeloa was looking our weekest defensive link. That's harsh. The reason we looked so shakey yesterday was because Yossi and Ryan weren't tracking back. We were exposed a few times because of this.
The Hitman Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 That reads like a hygiene factor for a full back and how you go from that to him having a 'great game' is where I struggleLike I said,he bailed teammates out a couple of times, which could've led to goals.Didn't put a foot wrong all game.By your reckoning, what would a fullback have to do to have a great game?Score a hat-trick?
Knox_Harrington Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Didn't think Finnan played that well at all to be honest but he wasn't given much help.
